Responsibilities:
Direct plant personnel in the operations, maintenance, and maximizing the overall efficiency of the plant while supporting a team working environment. Schedule operations personnel and assign daily tasks as required.
Incorporates safe behavior into all activities and complies with all established safety and health policies and procedures.
Assist with the development of PM procedures, operator qualification programs, and required operational records and reports.
Perform and assist with development of operational and safety procedures. Provide training on power plant systems and safety procedures.
Monitors and reports qualification progress. Provide coaching to plant staff to improve overall performance.
Cover vacancies on other shifts. Overtime is required to support plant operation supervision.
Qualifications:
High school graduate or equivalent with trade school, military service or other technical training. Additional professional training preferred.
5+ years of maintenance experience in power generating facilities or process plants with experience working as a Shift Supervisor or equivalent. Combined Cycle Power Plant experience is strongly preferred.
Negotiating, supervisory and leadership skills combined with the ability to delegate.
Must possess basic math skills, good verbal communications skills, be proficient with the use of power and precision tools and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Must have a thorough knowledge of distributed control systems (ABB and Woodward knowledge and experience preferred), computer based systems, electronic control systems, and the ability to use and modify computer systems.
Must be able to read and interpret blue prints.
Must be able to attain a PJM Generation Certification within the required period.
Must work within and insure strict adherence to all safety procedures.
Must be able to respond to audio alarms and variations of sound.
This job requires the ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, climb vertical access ladders and stairwells. Must demonstrate the ability to observe, hear, walk and communicate effectively.
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other MS software.
Valid driver's license.
Perform other tasks as directed by the Operations and Maintenance Manager and other senior management as required.
