The Operations Shift Supervisor is an assistant to the Operations Manager. This person will coordinate the operations crews, responsible for the training and qualification process of the A and B Operators.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct plant personnel in the operations, maintenance, and maximizing the overall efficiency of the plant while supporting a team working environment. Schedule operations personnel and assign daily tasks as required.

  • Incorporates safe behavior into all activities and complies with all established safety and health policies and procedures.

  • Assist with the development of PM procedures, operator qualification programs, and required operational records and reports.

  • Perform and assist with development of operational and safety procedures. Provide training on power plant systems and safety procedures.

  • Monitors and reports qualification progress. Provide coaching to plant staff to improve overall performance.

  • Cover vacancies on other shifts. Overtime is required to support plant operation supervision.

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent with trade school, military service or other technical training. Additional professional training preferred.

  • 5+ years of maintenance experience in power generating facilities or process plants with experience working as a Shift Supervisor or equivalent. Combined Cycle Power Plant experience is strongly preferred.

  • Negotiating, supervisory and leadership skills combined with the ability to delegate.

  • Must possess basic math skills, good verbal communications skills, be proficient with the use of power and precision tools and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Must have a thorough knowledge of distributed control systems (ABB and Woodward knowledge and experience preferred), computer based systems, electronic control systems, and the ability to use and modify computer systems.

  • Must be able to read and interpret blue prints. 

  • Must be able to attain a PJM Generation Certification within the required period.

  • Must work within and insure strict adherence to all safety procedures.

  • Must be able to respond to audio alarms and variations of sound.

  • This job requires the ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, climb vertical access ladders and stairwells. Must demonstrate the ability to observe, hear, walk and communicate effectively.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other MS software.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Perform other tasks as directed by the Operations and Maintenance Manager and other senior management as required.
