Job Description Summary
The Lead Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for leading manufacturing engineering activities to support safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of production operations for gas turbine auxiliary skids and modular systems. The role focuses on manufacturing readiness, process development, routing, MBOM, work instructions, technical problem solving, and continuous improvement to ensure operational excellence and on-time delivery.
The position requires strong technical leadership, cross-functional coordination, and the ability to drive manufacturing processes from engineering release through shop-floor execution.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Lead manufacturing engineering activities for gas turbine auxiliary systems, including piping, mechanical assembly, electrical, and instrumentation scopes.
- Review engineering packages and ensure manufacturing readiness before execution.
- Develop and maintain Manufacturing BOM (MBOM), routing, work instructions (WI), and manufacturing documentation.
- Define make-versus-buy strategy and coordinate with sourcing and planning teams.
- Ensure alignment between engineering drawings, material requirements, and manufacturing processes.
- Support shop-floor execution by resolving technical issues and driving timely problem resolution.
- Coordinate with Operations, Quality, Planning, and Materials teams to ensure smooth production flow and eliminate bottlenecks.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA, 8D, 4D) for manufacturing and quality issues.
- Support implementation and sustainment of Build-in-Quality (BIQ) practices and Lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement activities focused on SQDC.
- Support functional testing, and inspection readiness activities.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, customer requirements, and applicable international standards (ASME, API, ISO, ATEX, IECEX, UL ...)
- Support manpower planning, capacity reviews, and manufacturing readiness assessments for new projects.
- Make decisions on training needs for the GESAT production team
- Mentor and support junior engineers, ECTs and shop-floor teams on manufacturing processes and technical requirements.
- Participate in LEAN initiative and engage Six Sigma tools for process improvements.
- Develop and implement process improvements to reduce costs and cycles
- Implement productivity actions
- Participate in EHS related actions to improve safety in own area.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering or a relevant field or diploma in a relevant field from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 5 years of experience in Manufacturing)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, industrial operations, or related field.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, routing, MBOM, work instructions, and shop-floor execution.
- Familiarity with international standards such as ASME, API, ISO, ASTM, ATEX, UL, FM, IECEX and related industrial specifications.
- Proficiency in CAD software
Desired Characteristics
- Proficiency in CAD software (NX Siemens, PTC Creo)
- Experience in gas turbine auxiliary systems.
- Lean Six Sigma certification or Lean manufacturing experience
- Familiarity with Build-in-Quality (BIQ) practices and operational excellence tools
- Knowledge of welding, piping fabrication, inspection, and testing activities
- Strong operational mindset with focus on execution, readiness, and process discipline
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
- Established project management skills.
