About Department
Specialist clinics provide over 90,000 non admitted patient appointments per year across 20 different medical and surgical specialties, and receive 26,000 new referrals per annum. Specialist clinics provide a gateway to the hospital for patients requiring elective surgery and ongoing chronic disease management. Our major referral base is via General Practitioners from all areas of Victoria.
About the Role
The Associate Nurse Unit Manager, in the absence of the Nurse Unit Manager, will administer and manage the professional and operational resources of the clinic. The Associate Nurse Unit Manager, under the direction of the Nurse Unit Manager, will be responsible for providing mentoring and leadership to the Nursing Team.
The Associate Nurse Unit Manager will also be responsible for his/her own professional development, for supporting and assisting his/her colleagues and facilitating achievement of specific KPI’s as developed by the Specialist Clinics Management Team.
Classifications for this position will range between YW11 - YW12 ($106,834.00 - $110,432.10 per annum pro rata).
Duties
Daily coordination of clinical and staffing matters in the absence of the Nurse Unit Manager
Act as a clinical role model by providing the highest standard of direct patient care
Provide supervision and assistance to nursing staff working in Specialist Clinics
Actively participate in the orientation, mentor/preceptor ship of all new staff
Actively participate in team meetings and chair meetings in the absence of the Nurse Unit Manager
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Degree, Diploma or Certificate in general nursing which meets the registration requirements of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Current practicing certificate
Must have experience in relevant clinical areas
Leadership qualities with proven ability to direct, enthuse and encourage and manage a multidisciplinary team
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
