Synopsis of the role 

At Equifax, The Summer 2026 Legal Co-op participates in a 15-week co-op program as a gateway to full-time career paths for current university students. This is an amazing summer co-op for an ambitious and hard-working undergraduate  or law student to learn from and work with a dynamic in-house legal team. Reporting directly to the General Counsel for Canada, you will learn and perform legal research and how it is applied in a business context, while also participating in legal administrative work in the following areas: regulatory and compliance, government relations, consumer credit reporting, privacy, marketing, IP/IT, contract drafting and negotiation and commercial credit reporting. To ensure success you will need to be outgoing, enthusiastic and eager to learn.

  • The 15 week co-op  program runs from May 5th 2026 to August 20th 2026.

  • Co ops are required to follow our hybrid onsite policy of  Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday - onsite for the duration of the 15 - week program. 

  • Monday and Friday are remote work days. 

  • Co ops must be local to the Toronto area and have the ability to commute to our office in Toronto  based on where the role is.

What you’ll do

  • You will work closely with lawyers, compliance and privacy team members to provide support through research and creating or updating memos, letters and training

  • You may analyze documents, summarize and present findings to the legal team and assist in drafting (proofreading and editing legal documents)

  • Attend meetings, take notes and discuss meeting outcomes and follow-up tasks

  • Help monitor, summarize and report on applicable laws and regulation

  • Prepare, edit presentations, filing and other administrative tasks
