What are the ongoing responsibilities of Senior Accountant?

The European Chief Accounting Office team is part of the Franklin Templeton

global Finance team looking after the European corporate entities of the

group and focusing on financial reporting and accounting matters at the

entity level.

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Corporate Accounting in Luxembourg,

this position entails managing the more complex activities associated with

controlling ledger accounts and for developing financial analysis and reports

for various European entities of the group. The role includes reviewing the

accounting records including the review of journal entries and supporting

schedules, preparation of financial statements and regulatory reports and

variance analysis. Additionally, you will be involved in key European Finance

projects.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of Senior Accountant?

  • Perform controls and review of accounting records for various European corporate entities for month end closing. Prepare accounting adjustment entries as needed.

  • Lead communication with different finance teams to ensure the corporate entities accounting is accurate at each period closing.

  • Prepare quarterly regulatory reporting files for corporate entities.

  • Prepare first draft of Board deliverables for the corporate entities responsible.

  • Work on Month-end/Year-end closing and streamline processes.

  • Prepare first draft of Financial Statements for various European corporate entities.

  • Provide support for Year-end audit related issues across the region as required.

  • Participate in team meetings across the region to understand needs and support where required.

  • Assists in Europe project work as required.

  • Quarterly ongoing monitoring of finance delegates via KPIs.

  • The responsibilities of the role include working as part of a global team to provide quality customer focused services to all customers.

  • Communicate effectively within the department and with other departments as well as external parties.

What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?

  • University degree in accounting or in a related field (e.g. Economics, Finance).

  • A minimum of 3 years related experience in a global or multi-national organization, in similar department/function.

  • Accounting, tax, audit or consulting background. Certified Accountant is considered an asset.

  • Ability to build collaborative, trust-based relationships with staff and customers in a local, international, and multi-site environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to maintain flexibility, to plan and organize tasks, and schedule work to meet deadlines.

  • English is the primary working language (excellent written and verbal communication skills required). Good command of additional European language a plus.

  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office applications), AI prompt.

  • Knowledge of relevant GAAP, reporting requirements and taxes, preferred.
