Summary:
As an PostgreSQL Configuration & Administration, you will Provide L1/L2 operational support for PostgreSQL DB databases used by enterprise applications. Your typical day will involve collaborating with various teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges, ensuring the smooth operation of applications that are vital to business functions. You will engage in problem-solving activities, analyze system performance, and contribute to the continuous improvement of application support processes, all while maintaining a focus on delivering exceptional service to stakeholders.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Expected to perform independently and become an SME.
- Act as the primary point of contact for database related incidents, service requests, and user issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve PostgreSQL DB issues related to availability, connectivity, performance, capacity, and data access within defined SLAs.
- Participate in on call and shift based support rotations as part of the infrastructure operations model.
- Coordinate with application, infrastructure, cloud, and network teams during major incidents and outages
- Identify performance issues such as slow queries, index inefficiencies, or resource constraints and take corrective actions.
- Proactively detect potential issues and raise risks before they impact users or applications.
- Monitor PostgreSQL DB instances using enterprise monitoring and alerting tools.
- Support PostgreSQL DB patching, version upgrades, and maintenance activities as per infrastructure standards.
- Follow ITIL aligned processes for incident, change, and problem management.
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring PostgreSQL DB incidents.
- Implement preventive actions to reduce repeat operational issues.
- Maintain accurate incident records and operational metrics for reporting.
Professional & Technical Skills:
- Must To Have Skills: Proficiency in PostgreSQL Administration.
- Strong understanding of database management and optimization techniques.
- Additional Skills: Cloud Fundamentals (AWS) , DB Monitoring Tools, Unix/Linux, Shell scripting , Cloud Migration experience.
- Experience with backup and recovery strategies for PostgreSQL databases.
- Familiarity with performance tuning and query optimization.
- Knowledge of security best practices for database administration.
Additional Information:
- The candidate should have minimum 3 years of experience in PostgreSQL Administration.
- Flexible to work in Shifts during weekday & Weekend during India hours (7 AM - 10 PM IST).
- This position is based at our Bengaluru office.
- A 15 years full time education is required.
