The Job Details are as follows:

The Director, Discover (Product Management) provides a clear strategy for new and existing services that will drive innovation and further revenue growth. The Director will identify new market opportunities and business models that fit the strategy and will partner with other key OCLC business leaders to execute effective plans.

The Director quickly responds to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment, is forward thinking and flexible. The director will have a proven track record in developing new products, re-invigorating mature products and creating new business models to drive growth. Works collaboratively with the other Lines of Business owners to develop and successfully execute compelling, integrated solutions driven by market segment and user needs. The result will enable academic libraries globally to further automate their workflows, provide better decision support, and more effectively engage with their communities.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop the vision and product strategy for libraries.
  • Investigate and develop new product offerings to support library workflows in new areas including decision support and community engagement.
  • Manage the revenue, contribution, and budgets associated for the product portfolio.
  • Leverage strong networks and relationship building skills within libraries worldwide, with specific focus on large academic libraries and library consortia.
  • Provide strategic, managerial, staff development, and leadership for the Discovery team.
  • Present at customer and academic market events and conferences.
  • Monitor industry trends, product reviews, and competitive products/services; propose changes and recommendations based on analysis of trends and member feedback. 
  • Inspire, cultivate, and foster a winning team culture measured by high retention and employee satisfaction.
  • Establish and maintain productive and effective working relationships with internal and external partners including:  Gtech, Research, Business Development, Sales, Marketing, Finance, libraries & third party content providers.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, or related discipline.
  • At least 10 years of experience in product management.
  • At least 5 years of experience working in a product management leadership position and demonstrated expertise in launching new products and growing mature products.
  • Passion for automating workflows and leveraging data to create new insights to enable decision support and community engagement.
  • Superior communication skills: written and oral presentation.
  • Strong understanding of the Product Management Lifecycle model.
  • Demonstrated ability with financial planning and financial forecasting.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
