About us

We believe data, creativity and technology work best when they work together. Our mission is to shape the next era of media — one that’s smarter, more connected, and powered by insight. We’re part of a global network that values openness, collaboration and bold ideas. Here, you’ll have the chance to make an impact and grow your career and skill set with some of the best minds in the industry.

The Role

We’re looking for a Lead Data Engineer to accelerate our Open Intelligence data initiative, taking our data capabilities to the next level. You’ll play a central role in designing, building and maintaining the data connectors that feed data to Open Intelligence. It is a role that requires good communication skills and understanding of brand, adtech and marketing data and the benefits of well-engineered data pipelines. You will create systems that keep our global media ecosystem running ensuring that data is reliable, scalable, and reflects the needs of the business.

This is a hands-on technical role for someone who’s already comfortable delivering reliable data solutions, but who is also interested in leveraging new development- and testing technologies. It is also a leading role, where you will be expected to mentor the more junior members of the team, and have an overview of the activities on the team. Finally, it is a role that requires an individual who can communicate effortlessly with both stakeholders in the Product organization, and engineers on other teams.

The role is in our lovely Copenhagen offices at Nørrebro, where you will join a larger team of roughly 50 people working on Open Intelligence.

What You’ll Do

  • Build, manage and maintain data extraction pipelines with the help of AI coding assistants.
  • Pre-aggregate data in clean rooms using SQL-dialects when client or partner concerns demands it.
  • Fetch data through REST APIs using Python or Node.js when needed.
  • Communicate with our Product organization about addition of new data sources or changes to existing ones, and manifest those conversations as maintainable code.
  • Proactively identify and address technical debt and inefficiencies within our data platform.
  • Guide our regional teams in following your best practices for adding their local datasets to Open Intelligence, and act as a global knowledge center for data onboarding.
  • Collaborate closely with analysts and data scientists who leverage Open Intelligence, to make sure that data connectors work as expected.
  • Design and build strong data governance and quality frameworks to make sure connectors produced are accurate and work consistently throughout their lifetime.
  • Stay curious, explore new tools techniques and technologies that can help us move faster and smarter.

What You’ll Bring

  • Excellent communication skills — you can translate technical concepts into language anyone can understand.
  • 4+ years of experience in data engineering.
  • Experience with adtech- and/or martech data and terminology.
  • Interest in leveraging AI coding assistants and prompt engineering to enhance productivity.
  • Deep experience with data wrangling in a language such as SQL, Python or Scala.
  • Interest in applying or learning the Scala language for data processing.
  • Substantial experience with strongly typed computer languages and compilers. You understand why it is essential to find data processing errors as close to the point in time they are made as possible.
  • Proficiency in one or more modern data ecosystems — e.g. Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, InfoSum or Redshift.
  • Experience working with CI/CD, version control and testing best practices.
  • Experience with cloud-based platforms like GCP, AWS, or Azure, and deployment abstractions like Docker, Kubernetes or Terraform.
  • A passion for data, technology and computer languages.
  • A proactive approach to solving problems and improving systems.
  • Team lead experience or project management experience is a plus. So is experience writing Scala code.
