Job Description

We are looking for an experienced lead project engineer who will be key in developing a new and exciting capability within the IT organization. You will be instrumental in developing a brand new, custom automation and orchestration platform that is built from the ground up to facilitate business to IT demands across our entire technology stack, including Cisco, Palo Alto, and F5 Networks.

You will report to the Senior IT Manager located in USA and have a hybrid schedule working in Katowice, Poland.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Design and Develop a Network Automation Orchestration Solution: Lead the design and development of a green field network automation orchestration solution with core application development lifecycle and CI/CD principles as the foundation
  • Design and Develop Network Automation Toolkits: Develop automation tools to manage network configurations, backups, and software updates using network vendor APIs.
  • Collaboration and Leadership: Champion network automation as a service to other IT members and business units. Serve as the team lead of network automation development and delivery while mentoring and cultivating junior engineers.
  • Security, Standards, and Compliance: Ensure that all automation and development practices adhere to security policies, IT standards, and compliance requirements.

The Essentials - You Will Have:

  • Bachelor's degree: Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in network engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in software development with lead engineering experience.
  • Expert Proficiency in Programming Languages and Frameworks: Expert proficiency is required in Python and/or Go along with web application frameworks. Must work with various flavors of SQL such as MySQL and PostgreSQL. Expert knowledge in the application development lifecycle and CI/CD concepts.
  • Expert Proficiency with Automation Tools and APIs: Tools like Ansible and Terraform and API based methods and models such as YANG. Must be highly knowledgeable in creating and deploying containerized applications.
  • Understanding of Network Technologies: Understanding of network protocols, LAN/WAN, routing and switching, and other network-related technologies such as firewalls.
  • Analytical Skills: Analyze complex networks and identify opportunities for automation and improvement. Be able to translate complex or ambiguous business and technical requirements into a product roadmap.

  • Tools You Might Use:
    • Network Management: SolarWinds, Netbox, ServiceNow, Dynatrace, BigPanda.
    • Automation Tools: GitLab/GitHub, Azure DevOps, Jenkins.
    • Automation Frameworks: YANG models.
    • Scripting and Programming: Python, Go, RESTful APIs, Django, Flask, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Docker.

  • Certifications (optional but beneficial):
    • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).
    • Cisco Certified DevNet Professional (CCDEVP).
    • Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Automation.
    • Terraform Associate.
