This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building the sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the Lunar Surface.

As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists and passionate engineers, you will design and develop harnesses to support multiple Lunar Lander vehicles.  In a fast-paced dynamic environment, you will support the development, design, fabrication, and integration of flight harnesses.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Developing the Block Interconnect Diagrams (BID) and Wiring Interconnect Diagrams (WID)
  • Design electrical harnesses for power distribution, RF, communication, and high-speed data signals
  • Select harness components, connectors, back shells, cable, and wire.
  • Create 3D routed harness data files utilizing Creo (Pro/Engineer) Cabling and Zuken E3.
  • Create harness detail and installation drawings, including 2D flat harness drawings from the 3D harness data sets.
  • Design and installation of harness support brackets
  • Support design configuration, development, and trade studies
  • Develop harness routing requirements, interfaces, specifications, and process controls.
  • Provide technical guidance for hardware installation.
  • Supervise the assembly and testing of cables and harnesses and evaluate and disposition non-conformances.
  • Maintain and report on activity schedule and technical status.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements and operational cost and schedule savings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Passion for Blue Origin’s mission: Millions of people living and working in space!
  • B.S. in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Computer Engineering, or related technical subject area
  • 2+ years’ experience in the design, assembly, and integration of cable harnesses
  • 2+ years’ experience in creating Schematics, System Interconnect Diagrams and Wiring Diagrams
  • Experience in configuration management cycle of harness design products
  • Experience with Creo and Zuken highly desired; equivalent other software will be considered if all other required qualifications are met.
  • Understand EMI/RFI principles and their application to harness shielding.
  • Ability to perform wire derating analysis.
  • Working knowledge of existing applicable harness standards: IPC/WHMA-A-620, NASA-STD-8739.4, SAE AS50881
  • Strong electrical/mechanical design and integration skills using 3D CAD software.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Creo / Windchill and Zuken e3
  • Experience with other CAD software such as Unigraphics NX Electrical and Mechanical Routing, Zuken, or Mentor Graphics
  • Knowledge of harness fabrication and installation processes.
  • Experience with launch vehicle or spacecraft mechanical systems


 

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $96,480.00-$135,072.00

Other site ranges may differ
