The Financial Governance and Operational Performance Division is responsible for managing the financial certification program in accordance with Multilateral Instrument 52-109. As such, it conducts an annual risk analysis to establish the scope of work required to support Desjardins Group's certification. It ensures that significant risks, identified as a result of the risk analysis, are mitigated through key internal controls. In addition, it evaluates the design and effectiveness of internal controls over key financial information, and communicates any deficiencies identified during testing to the parties concerned, making recommendations. Finally, he/she informs senior management and the various committees about the internal control portfolio, the deficiencies identified and their impact. The intern is responsible for assisting senior consultants in evaluating the design and operating effectiveness of the company's internal controls, and for formulating recommendations for improvement. More specifically, you will be required to: 

  • Participate in the annual certification process for internal controls over financial reporting

  • Complete the assessment of the design and operating effectiveness of key 52-109 controls (documentation and control testing).

What you bring to the table  

  • The internship must be credited/attested by your educational institution towards either a BAC or a Master's degree in accounting

  • Knowledge of French is required
