Housing Officer

Part Time – permanent

Salary: £17,640.00 per annum

About the Role:

As Housing Officer your role will be 70% based in the field covering 2 site locations in Portsmouth which are Daedalus and Seafield Park.

You will manage a portfolio of accommodation comprising of a variety of contracted housing management services through Mears Housing Management registered providers.

Role Criteria experience and qualifications:

  • Main point of contact for all face-to-face interactions with tenants, clients, and local authorities by carrying out regular property visits and ensuring all parties are keeping to the terms of their contractual tenancy and lease agreements.
  • Prepare all documentation for New Tenants
  • Attend Move In’s for new tenants and obtain accurate contact information to be stored on Mears system or data base, answer any queries they may have upon moving in.
  • Attend Move Outs to ensure properties are left in a suitable condition and document/ photograph the state of the property once vacated. To report back to the client in a timely manor on any damages.
  • Identify repairs required to property to ensure property meet contractual standards.
  • To manage tenancy breaches (eg noise nuisance) and anti-social behaviour to include gathering and analysing evidence, reporting, preparation, and service of appropriate statutory notices and attending court to present evidence and attending evictions when necessary.
  • Collection of data from property visits and updating IT systems to ensure they are accurate and up to date.
  • To attend monthly client meetings either face to face or via Teams to answer any queries relating to move in’s/ move outs and enforcement notices.
  • To work closely with the on-site supervisors/ maintenance team the helpdesk to assist with any access issues or complaints and be the face to face point of contact for the tenants. 
  • To work closely with the site supervisor to manage all Void properties to ensure there are no issues whilst properties are vacant and that all utilities/services remain operational, liaising with the client where appropriate.
  • Ensure all properties are cleaned to agreed standard, any works required are completed and that the property is in an acceptable condition in readiness for Move-Ins
  • Assist with collation of data for monthly client reports and any other regular reporting as required.
  • Working days are Tuesday and Thursdays. The extra day will be flexible which will be approved by a manager.

What you will need:

  • Previous experience of social housing, residential lettings, or block management
  • Experience of meeting KPI targets
  • A background of delivering high quality customer services
  • Clean full driving licence
  • Strong IT skills (word, excel and on-line systems)
  • Motivated, able to use own initiative and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • Ability to service several clients with different needs.
  • An understanding of different cultures and backgrounds
