Position Overview:

This Senior Manager, Platform Engineer serves as a strategic technical leader responsible for defining and executing the enterprise AI/ML platform vision across RTX. This role drives the integration and delivery of production-grade artificial intelligence, machine learning, and advanced data capabilities at scale, enabling mission-critical innovation across the organization.

Operating at the intersection of engineering execution and business strategy, this leader owns the end-to-end architecture, delivery, and operationalization of scalable, cloud-native AI solutions—including generative AI, LLM platforms, MLOps, and intelligent automation frameworks. The position balances long-term platform strategy with near-term program execution while building and leading high-performing engineering talent.

This role partners closely with executive leadership, product and program management, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and domain experts to ensure enterprise AI capabilities are secure, compliant, scalable, and aligned to RTX’s strategic priorities.

What You Will Do

  • Define and execute the enterprise AI/ML platform strategy, delivering scalable, secure, cloud-native solutions aligned to RTX’s mission and business priorities.
  • Lead the end-to-end architecture, integration, and production deployment of advanced AI capabilities, including generative AI, LLMs, and MLOps frameworks.
  • Serve as the senior technical authority, ensuring engineering excellence, governance, reliability, and compliance across platforms.
  • Partner cross-functionally with product, program, cybersecurity, and business leaders to drive enterprise adoption and measurable impact.
  • Build, mentor, and lead high-performing engineering talent while establishing best practices for CI/CD, DevSecOps, and operational sustainability.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a University Degree and 10+ years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree with 7+ years of experience.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in data science, machine learning, or AI engineering, including production deployment.
  • 5+ years of technical leadership experience leading engineering teams or large-scale programs.
  • Deep expertise in software development lifecycle practices, including CI/CD, DevSecOps, and production-grade Python-based systems.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Proven experience defining and scaling enterprise AI/ML platforms in AWS and/or Azure environments.
  • Experience building and governing systems leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) and generative AI capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of secure cloud architecture, data governance, and compliance in regulated environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive cross-organizational alignment.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams across engineering, data science, and product domains.
  • Familiarity with SQL, RESTful APIs, Node.js, automated testing frameworks, and distributed system design.
