Legal Counsel - APAC

Job Description

RingCentral is looking for a new legal counsel located in Bangalore, India with extensive experience managing commercial transactions to join our dedicated, collaborative legal team!

This attorney will also work on APAC telecommunications regulatory matters for cutting edge cloud communications services in India. Services include VoIP, videoconferencing, online messaging, contact center, and other cloud-based services. 
 

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate SaaS contracts, real estate/facilities, and other commercial agreements for India and the broader APAC region

  • Assist with strategic partner transactions involving APAC global service providers and large enterprises

  • Responsibility for ensuring the company is in full compliance with all legal requirements from a corporate, compliance, procurement and HR standpoint throughout APAC

  • Handling all Labor, Employment and HR legal issues

  • Ability to draft and review legally compliant legal letters for employees in India and other APAC countries as needed. For example – employee contracts, separation agreements, show cause notices, disciplinary action letters, employee disputes and conflicts etc

  • Negotiate and draft general agreements such as NDAs, vendor contracts, and partnership agreements.

  • Additionally work with other teams to obtain and maintain, as necessary, telecommunications licensing (where applicable) and ongoing regulatory compliance

  • Work closely with the India regulatory counsel on cross-jurisdictional projects

  • Stays informed of industry-specific legislation/regulations and works with stakeholders to ensure that appropriate risk management strategies are implemented

  • Familiarity with new technology/new product rollout, such as VoIP, videoconferencing, online messaging, and other cloud-based services.

Requirements

  • 10+  years’ experience negotiating commercial contracts with a solid knowledge of technology and contract law, direct agency/wholesale-reseller arrangements, and revenue recognition principles;

  • Extensive experience in drafting different legal documents. 

  • Confidence handling topics such as privacy, security, and data protection in the commercial contract context

  • Proficiency in trademark law and experience with trademark registration processes.

  • Experience in telecommunications regulatory, with experience in cloud communications or a related industry will be a plus

  • CIPP/E certification or similar privacy law experience, especially including experience in India privacy law will be a plus

  • Excellent organization and planning skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

  • Ability to work well with individuals across cultures, time-zones and geographies

  • Self-starter; able to work with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to collaborate and function well in a team environment.

  • This is an in-office position in Bangalore, India
