Boeing India Engineering is currently looking for an Associate Design Engineer - Nacelle Repair to join the team in Bangalore, India. This position will focus on providing 24/7 support to Boeing commercial airplane customers. This position offers a unique opportunity to work complex technical challenges in support of safety operation and return to service.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supports customer service requests with development of technical dispositions, instructions, and designs for damage allowance/treatment and deviations to nacelle structures design and repairs (Inlets, Fan Cowls, Thrust Reverser/Core Cowls, and Exhausts).
  • Develops, leads, and reviews urgent (hours to days), longer-term (weeks to months), simple, moderate, and significantly complex repair schemes for metallic and composite parts including preparation of 8100-9 forms for AD-affected structure, AMOCs, and major repairs.
  • Develops creative and innovative structural repair methods, predictive/proactive projects, and improvements to existing SRMs and support documentation in support of our customers and development of Boeing Nacelle Repair methodologies.
  • Participates in current and future design/development initiatives to advocate for customer concerns/needs and improved supportability,
  • Provide on-site engineering support. This includes, but not limited to leading development of technical solutions, development of engineering data, and acting as a principle point of contact for internal and external customers.
  • Provides composite repair development expertise for Nacelle structures within a challenging thermal, vibration and aerodynamic environment.
  • Demonstrates our Customer Support and larger Boeing networks to support customer needs
  • Provides technical, design and informational support for basic production, product support or in-service issues. Troubleshoots aircraft system problems consistent with operational protocols.
  • Reviews various Boeing documentation (e.g., maintenance documentation, parts list, component manuals, etc.) to identify solution(s) for in-service concerns and look proactively for potential future fleet solutions.
  • Reviews drawings and installations to ensure customer questions/concerns are resolved.
  • Assists in solving problems and provides other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.
  • The position requires flexibility to address emergent issues and important airline meetings off-hours and may require an occasional off-shift work schedule to support the fleet operating 24 hours/7 days a week/365 day of the year.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelors’ degree or higher is required as a BASIC QUALIFICATION in Mechanical or Aerospace / Aeronautical Engineering.
  • AME with a Bachelors’ Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is preferable
  • Overall Experience 6+ Years
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in Experience in Propulsion/Nacelle structures.
  • 1 or more Years of experience developing structural repairs, performing structural design, or propulsion/nacelle structural repairs.
  • 1 or more Years of Material Review Board/Liaison Engineer authority experience.
  • 2 or more Years of experience working aircraft production design or post-production repairs or Non-Conformances.
  • Experience with Boeing 7-series airplanes.
  • Experience in system’s failure analysis, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting on Boeing commercial airplane models.
  • Conversant with aircraft maintenance manuals (AMM and FIM), IPC, WDM, CMM, AHM, and service documentation (FTD, SLs, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Good verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience supporting end users in a customer service role.
  • Experience collaborating with multiple team functions.
  • Willingness to expand into technical areas without prior experience.
  • Experience with airworthiness regulatory agencies.
  • Knowledge of payload systems installed on Boeing commercial airplane models (software and hardware) as it applies to maintenance and operations.
  • Knowledge of repair, maintenance and retrofit processes, practices, and documentation.
  • Knowledge of airplane’s maintenance and flight operation documentation.
  • Knowledge of the Airworthiness Directives and related Service documents.
  • Knowledge of aircraft safety and quality management systems.

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 6 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master and related work experience)
