Job Purpose

The Supervisor, Security Operations is responsible for maintaining daily Security operations and providing guidance, and development to Corporate Security staff. The Supervisor assists in the development and implementation of processes and procedures concerning physical security, guard force operations, and emergency preparedness. The Supervisor is responsible for controlling building access and responding to emergencies and incidents relating to life safety and security of personnel on company property.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Maintains Corporate Security daily operations, scheduling, call-offs, building alarms, and staff development.

  • Aids in the development of security and incident response procedures.

  • Controls access to assigned facilities and ensures the safety and security of Jackson facilities through the prompt response to emergency and security incidents.

  • Conducts periodic patrols to assess for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations, and compliance with established security protocols.

  • Monitors entrance and exit points to prevent unapproved or unauthorized entry and facilitate the movement of people and vehicles.

  • Responds to emergencies, using the appropriate escalation of force in accordance with established protocols.

  • Observes order and acts to enforce security policies and procedures regarding personnel and property.

  • Observes and reports incidents and suspicious activity, supporting the security and safety of personnel and property, and recommend solutions for resolution to management.

  • Supports response to incidents of workplace violence, security breach, imminent threat to associates or the company, fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, hazardous materials, inclement weather, and other incidents.

  • Supplies direction and problem solving for Jackson, Corporate Security Operations Center.

  • Participates in and contributes to department strategy discussions, team leadership and departmental meetings.

  • Prepares written logs and reports as required.

Other Duties

  • Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of response plans, developing policies and practices related to physical security, guard force operations, emergency and incident planning and response, loss and incident reporting, and risk and threat assessment/analysis.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team.

  • Ability to prepare and deliver clear, concise, and audience-appropriate written and oral reports for presentation up to the highest level in the corporation.

  • Committed to integrity and best practices.

  • Availability to respond 24 hours per day and work flexible shifts as needed.

  • Ability to effectively communicate technical issues, both verbally and in writing.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Effective interpersonal skills.

  • Proficient in basic computer skills such as work processing, spreadsheets, and presentations.

  • Ability to perform the functions of the position (climb multiple flights of stairs in an emergency, standing/walking for long periods of time, etc.).

  • Ability to lead and mentor others.

Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent required.

  • 3+ years of recent experience in a similar role within the public or private sector required.

  • Prior experience in a management/supervisory role preferred.

  • Driving personal vehicle to other locations required.

  • Valid State Issued Drivers License required.
