Staff Accountant II-Carmel, IN (Hybrid)
Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant II serves as a business partner to Business Unit Controllers, Finance and Non-Finance Partners (including but not limited to HR, Corporate Consolidations, AR, AP, Procurement, and Tax) as well as International Finance Affiliates.
This role is responsible for maintaining 50+ intercompany statements as well as multiple general ledgers. Ensuring reporting entities yield accurate and meaningful information to aid in management decisions and are in compliance with GAAP and applicable company policy (FICAP).
A successful Staff Accountant II at Allegion has a mindset focused on accuracy, efficiency, and compliance, can consistently apply policies and procedures, and enjoys learning and collaborating with others. A successful candidate must also be able to multi-task on a variety of high priority objectives while adhering to deadlines.
What You Will Do:
Serve as a well-respected business partner
Post monthly journal entries and perform balance sheet reconciliations; Research and timely resolve any reconciling items
Manage the subledgers and general ledger
Ensure that all duties are handled in an accurate and timely manner
Drive productivity initiatives, process improvement, and standardization across business units
Prepare general month end reporting required; Submit and review financial statements for compliance with GAAP and other internal policies.
Assist with various internal projects as necessary
Preparation and maintenance of intercompany statements; Intercompany accounting and reconciliation responsibility between assigned business units and other Allegion entities; Research and resolve intercompany statements and reconciling variances
Drive productivity initiatives, process improvement, and standardization across business units
Role Specific Tasks:
Manage monthly closing activities to include: Monthly journal entries, Balance Sheet reconciliations, Preparation and maintenance of intercompany statements, intercompany accounting and reconciliation responsibility between assigned business units and other Allegion entities, Manage general ledger(s) and subledger(s), and Research and resolve intercompany statements and reconciling variances.
Provide support to the Accounting Manager and General Accounting team
Work in multiple business and ERP systems; help to troubleshoot issues related as well as participate in ERP implementations as needed
Develop advanced data analysis tools to manipulate large volumes of data, including regular usage of Microsoft’s PowerBI and Sharepoint platforms
Compliance Related Tasks:
Provide support documents for internal and external audits related to assigned business units
Maintain a robust and effective internal control environment to ensure accounting procedures are compliant with GAAP and FICAP
Participate in Sarbanes Oxley testing reporting, with emphasis on prevention, elimination, and timely close-out of control deficiencies
Interpret, implement and/or maintain divisional and corporate financial policies, practices and procedures, including provision of effective controls and audit capabilities
What You Need to Succeed:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or other related field required; CPA and/or MBA preferred
3-5 years relevant accounting experience including general ledger, preferably in a manufacturing setting
Maintain high level of attention to detail, prioritization, and ability to multi-task in faced-paced environment
Strong critical-thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both oral and written
Project leadership experience preferred
Business partnership experience preferred
Audit experience preferred
Proficient with utilizing technology such as Windows, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI), Sharepoint, HFM, and Oracle preferred
Understanding of financial reporting, accounting and auditing principles and practices
Ability to work independently as well as in a team collaborative setting
Highly motivated and self-driven with continuous process improvement goal
Maintain high level of attention to detail, prioritization, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
