Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Infrastructure and Right of Way, this position will aid the Senior Asset Management Advisor in reviewing and ensuring the digital infrastructure asset inventory is up to date and establish processes to provide for the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of the inventory records, This position will involve both office and field verification of infrastructure assets including reviewing of engineering plans and agreements including quantity take-offs and field measurement / verification of assets where required.

• Anticipated term – Summer 2026
• Hours of work – 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Major Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in ensuring the infrastructure asset inventory is accurate, complete, and up‑to‑date

  • Review engineering plans, as-built drawings, and subdivision/servicing agreements to extract asset information and perform quantity take-offs

  • Conduct field investigations using mobile electronic data capture tools, and appropriate safety gear

  • Verify the presence, dimensions, and condition of physical infrastructure assets

  • Document field observations including location, severity and extent of defects or hazards

  • Inspect fences and other municipality assets to identify asset condition and potential risks

  • Perform minor GIS tasks such as updating spatial asset layers and verifying geographic accuracy of assets

  • Support the integration of field data into the Town’s Asset Management System.

  • Inspect a diverse range of Town assets as assigned

  • Maintain accurate and organized digital record

  • Work collaboratively with other staff and divisions to gather information and support asset-related initiatives

Education & Experience

Minimum Qualifications:         

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary diploma or degree in civil engineering technology / civil engineering.

  • Experience in reading and understanding engineering plans and agreements.

  • Valid G license with transportation will be required.

  • This position occasionally requires to walk on uneven surfaces.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Courses in GIS

  • Experience working in a Municipal Government or Engineering environment

  • Experience working with CAD software like AutoCAD or MicroStation

  • Experience with ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Experience Builder, ArcGIS mobile field applications (Collector, Survey123, and Field Maps)
