Job Summary
Experienced safety leader with a proven track record in developing and implementing comprehensive safety management plans aligned with regulatory standards and corporate objectives. Adept at translating safety data into actionable strategies, facilitating cross-functional collaboration, and driving continuous improvement in workplace safety culture.
Senior Genco Safety Specialist identifies and develops safety management plans and training activities to meet business goals and regulatory compliance. This position provides leadership in the communication of safety initiatives and safety meetings and committees. This role performs in-depth analyses on safety metrics, providing recommendations for the development of additional safety plans and programs. This position coordinates facility documentation processes and assesses compliance with safety regulations. This role evaluates and recommends action plans on proposed regulations.
What you will do- Demonstrates leadership in safety which requires observing and enforcing safety rules, encouraging safe work behaviors, and promptly correcting conditions and unsafe behaviors which may lead to accidents.
- With oversight from supervisors, identifies and develops safety management plans to meet applicable corporate policies, business goals, and regulatory compliance. Evaluates and develops comments on proposed state and federal laws and regulations
- Leads, coordinates, provides, and/or conducts safety training and education. Performs in-depth analysis and interpretation of safety performance measures.
- Oversees the selection of operating rules and safety-related information to assist various audiences in accepting, understanding, and applying knowledge to their respective activities, duties, and responsibilities.
- With oversight from supervisors, develops and implements safety meetings for the assigned facility. Leads safety meetings as needed and/or participates in safety meetings as a senior technical advisor. Participates in and leads facility safety committees and may participate in joint bargaining unit/management safety committees. May represent the company on local utility, regulatory, and governmental task forces and committees.
- Coordinates with local authorities to develop and assess emergency response procedures and capabilities.
- with various departments and business units to identify on-going and future safety needs and to develop and implement comprehensive strategies to meet these needs
- Develops implementation plans based on management direction. Uses periodic updates and reports to recommend performance plans.
- Coordinates the administration of safety filing systems and all relevant records, training documentation, certificates and other administrative records to maintain compliance with safety rules and regulations.
- Assesses facility compliance with safety rules and regulation, and ensures existing policies, practices, and procedures are being followed. Conducts facility safety compliance audits.
- Works with company safety staff to integrate assessments of existing and anticipated safety regulations into planning and operating decisions. Conducts accident/incident investigations and prepares regulatory reporting.

Education Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree Emphasis in safety, industrial hygiene, physical or natural sciences, or related area Preferred
- Certification Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), Certified Utility Safety Administrator (CUSA), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation Preferred
Required Experience- 5 years of technical and/or professional experience
Preferred Experience- Experience in safety, industrial hygiene, emergency management, work or safety management, or compliance planning
Other Requirements- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Working knowledge of electric, gas or steam operating practices, construction standards, work methods, equipment, maintenance practices, regulatory compliance, and materials preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and maintain training plans and materials through multiple types of mediums (e.g. written, audio, video, graphic).
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with government agencies, utility groups, and other industries.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage project teams with cross-functional team member knowledge and experience preferred.
- Solid knowledge and interpretation of safety rules and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations as they apply to the utility industry.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret government regulations.
- Demonstrated effective analytical skills and ability to perform successfully perform accurate analysis on performance measures and develop reports, charts and graphs.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and project management) preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Pay Range:
$83,327 - $114,637
This position is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
