Are you an experienced cloud engineer looking to be a part of a cloud transformation? The Hartford’s Group Benefits (GB) organization is aiming to transform our claims management systems, and we are looking for an innovative Cloud Engineer to play a key role in supporting this evolution. Enabling a superb customer experience while providing flexibility, scalability, and speed to market are key outcomes. This work will be foundational to a broader transformation that will enable other GB objectives on the strategic roadmap The Hartford is seeking a highly motivated and experienced hands-on senior engineer to help transform and migrate our on premise platforms to AWS, as well as to work on new development efforts leveraging AWS services. The right candidate should be passionate about engineering both simple and highly complex solutions. This position will be integral in activities related to the design, implementation, orchestration, automation, and maintenance of our cloud adoption journey. The ideal candidate should have a passion for automation and coding; be self-motivated, and able to work across teams; have the drive and ability to learn new technologies; and be eager to experiment. Coaching and mentoring of teammates new to AWS is key.
Responsibilities of the position include:
Design and develop cloud based solutions in AWS that are scalable, highly available, fault tolerant and easily maintainable. Translate business requirements into design and operationalization of cloud solutions, adhering to principles, patterns and guardrails established by the enterprise. Partner with the architecture team in the development of cloud application architecture, enabling cloud native solutions.
Build and support a robust continuous deployment framework for cloud solutions. Effectively partner with subject matter experts and key stakeholders to drive cloud enablement. Collaborate with fellow developers to design, develop, implement, and support complex technical solutions. Implement proactive monitoring and observability to predict/detect system anomalies with alerts to avoid system impacts. Mentor team members as they embark on their individual cloud journeys.
Qualifications:
5+ years of software development experience and best practices
3+ years of developing and operating production workloads in AWS cloud infrastructure.
3+ years of API development, implementing/integrating with databases, testing, and troubleshooting experience.
7+ years of Java development experience
3+ years of Informatica IDMC is highly desirable
Computer Science / Information Technology related degree or related technical experience.
Hands-on experience working with AWS core services and deploying cloud based solutions using AWS services such as S3, RDS, DynamoDB, Lambda, API Gateway, ECS, IAM, KMS, SNS, SQS
Hands-on experience writing infrastructure as code leveraging CloudFormation or Terraform and maintaining the continuous integration and deployment pipelines.
Proven ability to work with cross functional teams and translate requirements between business, project management and technical projects or programs.
A practical understanding of DevSecOps and Agile methodologies.
This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in an office location (Hartford, CT; Sunrise, FL; Charlotte, NC; Chicago, IL; Columbus, OH) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
