We are hiring for a Distinguished Engineer within our dynamic, new, growth focused Pharmacy and Consumer Wellness business to drive technology thought leadership across our portfolio of products and capabilities. As a Distinguished Engineer in Pharmacy and Consumer Wellness Technology, you'll combine your years of proven expertise with a never-ending quest to create innovative technology through solid engineering practices for the mission critical technology platforms. You’ll be responsible for developing and deploying applications to the highest standards. With your deep knowledge of design, development, coding, testing, and application programming, you will be responsible to create best in class industry solutions, develop engineering frameworks to drive technology led innovation. Your passion and experience in one or more technology domains will help solve complex and mission critical problems, internally and externally. In addition to creating solutions for the Pharmacy and Consumer wellness workstreams, you’ll also work alongside our team of technologists to develop and execute our application modernization roadmap as Pharmacy goes through a transformation of its own. You’ll work in a collaborative, trusting, thought-provoking environment—one that encourages diversity of thought and creative solutions that are in the best interests of our consumers and colleagues.   This is an individual contributor role, reporting to the AVP, Solution Engineering, Pharmacy and Consumer Wellness. This position will have an opportunity to provide strategic leadership for creating software designs and development of our products and services, that leverage digital first, data-driven, advanced technology solutions. 

Job responsibilities

  • Helping to define and implement the technical roadmap for Pharmacy products, ensuring scalability, security, and performance, persistently designing for experience and resiliency in a boundary-less and secure manner.
  • Role typically requires strong knowledge of software, applications, technical systems, technical processes, and product/project management within a technical discipline with advanced knowledge of additional disciplines and cross functional business knowledge.
  • Influences and simplifies technology stack discussions with business and Engineering.
  • Designing and architecting robust technical solutions that deliver a seamless user experience across various devices and platforms.
  • Evaluating and selecting the most suitable technologies and tools to optimize productivity, collaboration, and employee satisfaction with an emphasis on leveraging advanced techniques such as AI, Machine Learning and Cloud Native platforms.
  • Proficient understanding of organization’s IT systems, operating model, technical methodologies, and technical delivery standards to effectively navigate and influence the organization.
  • Partner with technical leaders within CVS Health and the open-source community and contribute to product strategy, frameworks, roadmap definition, and requirements-gathering.
  • Conducting technology evaluations, proofs of concept, and pilots to assess the feasibility and effectiveness of new tools and platforms.
  • Championing innovation and exploring cutting-edge technologies that can enhance the digital workplace experience and deliver tangible business value.
  • Embodying a deep technical expertise and thought leadership that will help accelerate our growth objectives. The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, be a self-starter, and be highly productive in a dynamic, collaborative environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deal with multiple priorities.

Required qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience in software development, enterprise architecture, or a similar role.
  • 10+ Years of experience in Python, Java or similar programming languages
  • 2+ years in AI development, framework libraries and AI tooling platforms for integration and lifecycle management
  • 5+ AWS, Azure or GCP
  • 5+ years of experience with developing and implementing target architectures that apply best practices for working with transactional and analytical workloads
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing digital workplace solutions, preferably in a large-scale enterprise environment.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud computing, SaaS architectures, and technologies such as machine learning and AI.
  • Mastery of application development and how it relates to data and infrastructure architecture disciplines
  • Knowledge of industry-wide technology trends and best practices
  • Experience in Retail Pharmacy or Healthcare domain will be preferred.
  • Experience in Agile development practices

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or a closely related discipline, or an equivalent combination of formal education and experience.
  • Masters’ Degree Preferred

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$175,100.00 - $334,750.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
