Job Description Summary

The is a critical link between production planning, materials coordination, and change management. This cross-functional role ensures seamless execution of the Master Production Schedule (MPS), accurate material flow, and timely processing of engineering and quality changes. The specialist will collaborate with operations, engineering, procurement, logistics, finance, and quality teams to support production goals while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, compliance, and lean execution.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Production Planning & Scheduling

  • Analyze customer demand and the Master Production Schedule (MPS) to determine material requirements.
  • Develop and maintain material plans aligned with master production schedules.
  • Schedule and release work orders including internal builds and outsourced operations.
  • Monitor and update work order progress, completions, and shipment readiness.
  • Ensure alignment of production capacity with customer requirements and lead times.
  • Resolve work order variances related to labor, materials, and scrap.

Materials Management & Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Verify inventory consumption and reconcile discrepancies across physical and system records.
  • Coordinate with warehouse, procurement and production teams to ensure timely material availability and shipment.
  • Coordinate with designated materials personnel, engineering, production and product development for planning deviation/new-product-introduction work orders.
  • Perform physical movements and system transactions for inventory staging, quarantine, release and receipt.
  • Execute cycle counts/audits and participate in full physical inventories.
  • Support traceability and compliance by maintaining accurate documentation for regulated product builds.

Analytical & Data-Driven Decision Making

  • Analyze MRP and ECR/ECO data to identify risks and gaps for use in adaptive planning.
  • Perform shortage analysis and simulate alternative scenarios to support production continuity.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and KPI’s to measure planning performance.
  • Perform impact analyses and create action plans for product/process changes.

Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement

  • Apply lean principles to reduce waste, optimize material flow, and improve scheduling accuracy.
  • Identify bottlenecks or quality risks and collaborate cross-functionally to drive resolution.
  • Recommend and lead improvements in planning, change control, and inventory practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing planning, materials management, or engineering change coordination.
  • Proficient in MRP/ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, GLProd) and quality systems (e.g., MyWorkshop).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Power BI, Smartsheet, Word, Power Point, Teams)
  • Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis, pivot tables, and formulas.
  • Solid understanding of lean manufacturing, inventory control, and production workflows.
  • Strong analytical skills to balance multiple variables (demand, lead time, capacity, inventory) in decision-making
  • Strong organization and communication skills
  • Skilled in scenario analysis, problem prioritization, risk assessment
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail and compliance.

Work Environment & Expectations:

  • Operates in both office and production floor environments.
  • May require occasional lifting, material handling, and cross-functional meetings on-site.
  • Must comply with all Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) and Quality System requirements.
