Do you want to help us build the DNA of tech.?  Vishay Italy is currently seeking applicants for R&D Engineer – Power Package Design. We are looking for a motivated and technically skilled R&D Engineer to support the design and development of packaging solutions for power modules. The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of experience in semiconductor packaging or power electronics, with a solid background in mechanical design, materials, and manufacturing processes.

You will work at the interface of design and manufacturing, contributing to the development of power module packaging solutions and supporting their industrialization. The role includes close interaction with R&D, suppliers, and production teams to ensure robust, manufacturable, and cost-effective designs.

Job Location:

Vishay Semiconductor Italiana spa is site focused on the design, development and production of power diodes and power modules. There is  around 300 employees currently work in Borgaro Torinese Italy. The position is based in Catania, within our R&D organization.

What you will be doing:

Support the design and development of power module packaging solutions.

•  Contribute to material selection (ceramic substrates, baseplates, solder/sinter materials, etc.).
•  Design and develop tooling for module manufacturing processes (molds, assembly fixtures, jigs, etc.).
•  Support process development and industrialization activities in collaboration with production teams.
•  Ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and alignment with supplier capabilities.
•  Perform tolerance analysis and support mechanical robustness validation.
•  Interface with suppliers for tooling and process optimization.
•  Support prototype builds and ramp-up to volume production.
•  Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, process, quality, manufacturing).

What you will bring along:

• At least 3 years of experience in power semiconductor packaging or power module design.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of materials used in power modules (ceramics, baseplates, solders/sintering).
• Experience in mechanical design and tooling development.
• Understandingof manufacturing processes and process development.
• Familiarity with DFM principles and industrialization flow.
• Hands-on attitude and ability to work in lab/production environments.
