Job Description
                Plans, schedules, conducts or coordinates the manufacturing engineering tasks for the Materials and Process Engineering Laboratories, which includes the Metallography, Chemistry, Material Testing, Thermal Paint, Plasma Spray Development, and Zatec labs.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to creating failure analysis planning, coordinating Appropriation Requests for machine acquisition or other improvements, implementing safety practices, developing and updating code of safe practices, laboratory training modules, work instructions, guidance notes, coordinating with TMO operations that cannot be done in the lab, coordinating production work that the labs support, and identifying process improvement opportunities. The manufacturing engineer will closely collaborate with technicians, materials engineers, and management to ensure best in-class quality and delivery times are met.


Minimum Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering field or equivalent experience
  • Experience creating manufacturing planning (Quicksilver and/or Creo)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Experience with Quality Management System (Process maps, Work Instructions, Guidance Notes)
  • Experience with Lean Methodologies
  • Ability to read technical drawings
  • Experience interfacing with cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project or team leadership experience
  • Exposure to lab equipment
  • Working knowledge of Creo
  • Experience with Windchill, Azure DevOps and agile methodologies
  • Aptitude for technology and data acquisition
  • Experience interfacing with external suppliers and/or vendors
  • Experience with capital asset acquisition via appropriation requests
  • Knowledge of production manufacturing processes

Principal Accountabilities

  • Create Failure Analysis planning utilizing internal department capabilities and production facility support
  • Develop and maintain Laboratory code of safe practices
  • Apply 6 Sigma, Lean and Agile concepts, and work to improve existing laboratory processes or develop new ones
  • Implement process improvements to improve safety practices, work product quality, response time, cycle time and throughput.
  • Develop and maintain training modules for various laboratory equipment
  • Laboratory capacity and workflow planning and capital asset management.
  • Engage with cross-functional team members including technicians, materials engineers, supply chain specialists, operations, etc.
  • Coordinate efforts with external vendors and suppliers regarding material testing capabilities and execution along with machine acquisition

Summary Pay Range:

$87,456.00 - $131,184.00
