Join us as a Financial Control Associate

  • You’ll support the team in the delivery of end-to-end financial control activity through the preparation and management of accounts, reconciliation schedules and other supporting documentation

What you'll do

In this role, you’ll provide input on the process to make sure control and risk management is in place for the end-to-end processes provided for the business area. We’ll look to you to ensure integrity of monthly, quarterly and annual financial information, including balance sheet, profit and loss account, internal and external reporting, make payments and provide supporting data for audit purposes.

You’ll also prepare key reconciliation schedules and retrieve supporting documentation required by Tax to support the submission of the annual tax returns to HMRC. In addition, you’ll prepare intercompany analysis and branch level reviews.

You’ll also:

  • Provide supporting evidence and analysis for statutory accounts in the relevant business area’s legal entities
  • Be responsible for preparing management packs on monthly basis
  • Be responsible for payment processing and static data amendments and assist in funding requirements
  • Assist in establishing, documenting, following and maintaining operating procedures which include relevant controls to meet policy requirements.
  • Provide monthly packs for management review for balance sheet substantiation and profit and loss analysis.

The skills you'll need

We’re looking for someone who is a qualified accountant or will work towards an accountancy qualification. Experience gained in a finance environment preferably within the financial services industry is essential. You’ll have experience of working in an environment where managing tight deadlines and key finance deliverables is critical.

You'll also have strong Excel and Powerpoint skills as well as previous experience of making payments and understanding the principles behind the funding and making payments from suspense accounts.

You’ll also have:

  • Experience of providing financial information for review
  • Statutory accounting experience with the ability to identify, build and enhance key relationships, influencing and challenging as required
  • Strong process and systems skills and understanding
  • Strong technical accounting skills with knowledge of statutory accounts production
  • The ability to work efficiently as part of a team across varying disciplines
  • The ability to investigate issues fully in order to make sure that all areas of concern are covered
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
