As a Patient Access Coordinator, you will organize and coordinate the activities and flow of work for the patient access area within this multi-specialty practice. You will ensure all areas are staffed with Patient Service Specialists, participate in huddles, work on reschedule lists, and round with teams daily. All your work will help to ensure that the Patient Service Specialists are providing a positive accurate registration experience for each patient. This is a great hands-on learning opportunity that can lead to growth within the organization. 

 

A caregiver in this position works Monday-Friday from 7:30AM – 4:00PM or 8:00AM – 4:30PM. 

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Organize and coordinate the activities and flow of work for the patient access area. 

  • Assign tasks, monitor performance and assist in training patient service representatives. 

  • Screen candidates, recommend hires, conduct performance appraisals and recommend corrective counseling. 

  • Develop, implement and oversee programs to improve appointment utilization such as reminders and follow-ups on no-show/cancellation program. 

  • Coordinate activities and resolve operational problems. 

  • Adjust employees, patients and physicians' schedules to respond to operational problems. 

  • Control and audit the reconciliation of day sheets including adjusting statistics in the computer data bank. 

  • Produce reports as needed. 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • High School Diploma or GED 

  • Two years Cleveland Clinic outpatient scheduling experience or other equivalent position, which includes interacting with patients, physicians and other departments on a problem resolution basis  

  • OR three years external outpatient scheduling experience where demonstrated experience includes resolving patient scheduling and the coordination of the work of others 

  • Associate Degree may substitute for one year of experience 

  • Bachelor's Degree may substitute for the experience requirement 

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires frequent data entry, sitting, standing and walking. Normal or corrected vision, hearing and speech. Occasional lifting or pushing up to 25 pounds.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
