Job Description:

Scope: Receives all incoming phone calls in a professional, helpful and efficient manner expediting communication between the oncologists and referring physicians; routes initial referrals/consultations from referring physicians to intake navigator; Create incidents tickets for all Med Onc incoming calls into Navigating Cancer. Warm Transfer any Urgent/ Medically Necessary calls directly to the Triage Staff all Physician to Physician and Consult calls directly to the physician line. Answer any questions that they can in relations to the call and give directions to the patients. performs miscellaneous clerical tasks as assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • Answer all incoming calls that come thru the Que for the following location: Essen, BRG, Gonzales, OGH, Covington, Slidell (Rad Onc and Palliative is coming soon)
  • Create incidents tickets for all Med Onc incoming calls into Navigating Cancer.
  • Warm Transfer any Urgent/ Medically Necessary calls directly to the Triage Staff.
  • Transfer all Physician to Physician and Consult calls directly to the physician line.
  • Answer any questions that they can in relations to the call and give directions to the patients.
     

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED                                           
  • Receptionist, telephone operator, or other clerical position.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in medical office required
  • Knowledge of insurance benefits, authorization
