What You’ll Do

The Director of Marketing and Communications at Fidelity Canada Clearing (FCC) is primarily responsible for ensuring exceptional client communications, enhancing market presence and preserving and evolving brand reputation. This pivotal role oversees all marketing and advertising campaigns, branding, product promotion, collateral, social media, presentations, and both internal and external communications and  FCC's events and conferences, ensuring they leave a lasting impact.

Reporting directly to the VP Product Solutions, the Director is the visionary behind our communications and marketing strategy, shaping the direction and execution of all related functions. This role is not just about leading tasks; it's about crafting a compelling narrative that resonates with our audience and propels FCC forward.

How You’ll Make an Impact

 Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and communication strategies

  • Ensure all communication and marketing materials reflect FCC's brand and standards of excellence.

  • Proactively stays abreast of industry trends, news, technology, best in class practices etc., to ensure FCC remains competitive and adapting to changing landscape.

Manage the execution of communication and marketing  deliverables across all channels digital, SEO, events, content marketing, product marketing. Oversee the entire lifecycle of projects, from conception through to execution and analysis

  • Strong partnerships with internal stakeholders such as Sales and Business Analytics to understand client segments

  • Holds team accountable against workflow management, timely delivery of initiatives, budgets, internal stakeholder, and vendor management.

  • Demonstrates strong business judgement and decision‐making abilities with the ability to continue to drive to results despite changing priorities

Liaise with production marketing teams, corporate affairs and external vendors to fulfil FCC's communication and marketing needs.

  • Proactively engages with other senior communications and marketing leaders and internal stakeholders to plan, negotiate, and strategize, define service level agreements, volumes, prioritization and deliverables.

  • Ensure Communication and Marketing plans are effectively executed

Measure and report on communication effectiveness to improve customer satisfaction. 

  • Regular reporting and tracking are available to measure impact.

  • Use metrics to provide insights to guide enhancements to improve effectiveness

Leadership: Build and lead a high‐performing team that aligns with Fidelity’s values

  • Successfully develops and coaches people leaders to attract and retain high performing teams.

  • Demonstrates ability to anticipate and plan for future upskilling of people, as industry, technology and best practices change.

  • Conducts regular coaching sessions with employees, providing direction and feedback, actively manage performance, and proactively address performance concerns.

  • Engages employees in development conversations and provide support towards to their development goals, with a focus on continuous learning and upskilling.

  • Conducts annual goal setting by establishing clear and measurable goals, ensuring alignment and support of department strategy.

  • Successfully executes end to end yearend performance review cycle.

  • Drives employee engagement by supporting and promoting people programs and enabling Fidelity’s culture.

Risk Management: Ensuring that all marketing and communication activities, including marketing campaigns, public communications adhere to FCC's compliance and risk framework protecting the brand reputation.

  • Work closely with the legal department to identify and manage legal risks and issues.

  • Align with the risk management team to ensure that marketing and communication strategies fall within with the overall risk appetite

What We’re Looking For

  • University degree or equivalent work experience

  • 7+ years of experience:

    • B2B and/or B2C marketing and communications experience

    • Campaign planning and strategy, including product releases and sales enablement

    • Strong understanding of marketing operations, including marketing workflow management and content marketing

    • Digital marketing experience

  • 5+ years of experience in leading/managing teams

  • Strong understanding of editorial and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices is an asset

  • Project management experience or agile practices certifications (scrum master/product owner) is nice to have
