Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Components Engineer / Principal Components Engineer (Material Process Engineer).  This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program. 

This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

What You’ll Get To Do:

Specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Create Electrical, Electronics, Electro-Mechanical, Electro-Optical (EEEE) Component Specifications or Source Control Documents to meet Program and Company Requirements

  • Work with design engineers in selection, application, and Qualification of EEEE components

  • Develop EEEE Component qualification plans

  • Support Program Subcontractors with EEEE Part requirements interpretation and review of Subcontractor Data Requirements Lists (SDRLs)

  • Supporting Supply Chain with procurement requirements, selection of suppliers, and procurement issues

  • Using Product Lifecycle Management Software for managing new part requests, part objects, and part attributes.

This position’s standard work schedule is 9/80, which allows employees to work nine-hour days Monday through Thursday and take every other Friday off.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

Final level offered will be determined based on relevant candidate experience & expertise. Position may be filled at either level.

  • Components Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 2 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree, 0 years of experience with a Master's degree

  • Principal Components Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 5 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree, 3 years of experience with a Master's degree

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.

  • Must be eligible to obtain Enhanced Security Clearances within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • DoD Top Secret security clearance or SCI access

  • Familiar with the selection and application of EEEE components in systems design

  • Working knowledge of various NASA & Military

  • Performance documents required for the selection and screening of Space, Military, DSSC, Non-Standard, and Commercial-Off-The-Shelf components, including M38534(Hybrids), M38535 (microcircuits), M19500 (semiconductors), M123 (capacitors), M55342 (resistors), M39016 (relays), M981(magnetics), and various electrical interconnect systems.

  • Working knowledge of Destructive Physical analysis (M1580), Failure Analysis, physics of failure, Root Cause & Corrective Action, component specifications, component screening & qualification, component application qualification, and related installation/assembly process specifications

  • Knowledge in the following MIL standard documents: MIL-PRF-38534 for Hybrids, MIL-STD-1580 for DPA, MIL-PRF-38535 for Microcircuits (ICs), and MIL-PRF-19500 for Semiconductor Devices.

  • Experience in parts, materials and process selection, manufacturing support, failure analysis, and processing of materials for space hardware

Salary Range: $68,500.00 - $102,700.00Salary Range 2: $84,200.00 - $126,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
