Job Description:

THE TECHNOLOGY TEAM

Dimensional’s Technology department designs, develops and operates with the same science and data-driven pragmatism that goes into our funds. Our team of curious and passionate technologists collaborate, develop insights, weigh variables, and create the tech that enables the innovative, research-driven financial and technical products that improve our client’s financial lives.

The Technology team within APAC spans several disciplines including infrastructure, desktop and application support and development.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a Technology Manager who possesses strong people and relationship management skills, and who can translate business needs into technology services. The successful candidate must have experience working in a global organisation and be comfortable operating in a matrix structure. The ideal candidate will bring strong stakeholder management skills along with a breadth and depth of technology experience. This role is based in our Sydney office.

THE ROLE

  • Lead, mentor, and coach a diverse technology APAC team (across several disciplines including infrastructure, desktop and application support and development)
  • Determine regional departmental needs and desires, set and reset expectations, and manage directly and indirectly to ensure delivery
  • Act as the face of the Technology department in the APAC regional office, drive alignment to global initiatives, policies, and priorities
  • Contribute as a regional SME on Technology projects, tasks, and decisions impacting the APAC region
  • Demonstrate a strong security mindset in every aspect of the role, ensuring technology risks in the APAC time zone are effectively monitored, mitigated and reported
  • Develop regional Technology team member skills, capabilities, and knowledge to help them achieve new and interesting challenges
  • Oversee global business operations and support (to all regions) from the APAC time zone
  • Present to the APAC Management Committee as required, providing key updates on Technology initiatives, incidents, and business continuity efforts
  • Represent Technology in client due diligence meetings/questionnaires
  • Own and manage major Technology incidents that occur in or transition to the APAC time zone
  • Manage and monitor vendor relationships in APAC; oversight and approval of regional vendor invoices and contracts
  • Manage local Technology and building-related projects and provide input/requirements for global projects and initiatives
  • Assist in the testing, implementation, communication and/or adoption of global technology solutions

REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years’ experience managing a global technology team with international reporting lines.
  • Relevant work experience driving technical product management, business analysis, engineering management and IT operations efforts
  • Ability to influence and drive controversial or highly complex conversations with confidence across executive and senior management both locally and internationally.
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Experience with IT project management, quality assurance and operations
  • Proven track record of building, and developing high-performing teams
  • Continuous learner and independent thinker who can work collaboratively with others
  • Prior experience managing multiple vendors, contract and associated financial commitments
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to understand underlying issues in a complex situation and present solutions in an easy to-understand manner
  • Prior experience within financial services organization is desired
  • Prior experience working in a matrix organization.
