About Global Finance Services Division

Global Finance Services Division helps the business achieve superior results by delivering valued financial expertise and protecting Caterpillar’s high-integrity culture. The division is also responsible for providing strategic business insights to support profitable growth of the organization. In India, the division has presence across multiple cities including Global Business services in Bangalore with COEs for Analytics & Finance operations and Business Resource teams across cities like Chennai, Hosur, Bangalore and Aurangabad.

Job Purpose:

This is an accounting role with responsibilities of assisting in business planning, profit center reporting, monthly book closure, capital and inventory management. In addition, the incumbent shall be responsible to ensure high integrity financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP including strong internal control environment in accordance with SOX regulations, perform monthly book closure with required management adjustment journal entries, support Local GAAP audit by preparing financials and coordinating with auditors, preparing reconciliation for balance sheet accounts and perform general accounting functions.

Job Responsibilities:

• Self-starter - Able to quickly learn and perform day to activities independently. With assistance of team should step up to handle more complex business requirements with short learning curve.
• Process Driven - Should follow process and invest sufficient time in documentation of the process with focus on attention to detail.
• Monthly Book closure - US GAAP Legal entity closings and general accounting for one or more ledgers/ legal entities spread across Asia consisting of one or more of the below activities
• Financial analysis - Financial statement preparation and analysis including variance analysis, gross margin analysis and forex impact analysis.

• Financial reporting - Responsible for monthly book close by liaising with stakeholders and ensuring financials are reflecting business unit performance and Legal entity results are presented fairly. Responsible to ensure required adjustments entries are posted before month close.
• Annual / Quarterly Business plan -Responsible for preparation and submission of Annual/quarterly business plans and review with Facility and Business Resource Management.
• Profit center reporting - Ensure Business units results are analyzed and reviewed month over month and vs business plan and explain variance / abnormal transactions.
• Capital asset Management: -Assist in capital budgeting process, updating the operations and management on monthly capital spent and ensure Capital Management System is reflecting accurately capital spent and capital to be spent. Review the capital requests from operations and analyze the payback / return on the investments and help route the capital requests for approval process.
• Compliance - Monitoring areas of potential loss/ gain and highlighting the same to the management. Ensure export incentives, duty drawback and GST rebates are received and accounted in timely manner.
• Inventory Review/ Reporting - Responsible for monthly review of Inventory balance, Inventory projections, Enterprise controls and procedures for inventory like Inventory count, Inventory provision are special accounting treatment for loaned / vendor managed inventory are followed, and provide inputs for management / Operations decision making about inventory.
• Audit Support - Statutory audit support including preparation of schedules with relevant documents and support internal reviews, SOX compliances by facilitating walk-throughs and process documentation.
• MIS reporting - Responsible for various management and corporate reporting like Form M, flash card/ dash board reporting, business manager checklist etc. Should ensure reporting timelines are met.

Desired Profile (Education/Experience):

• Qualified Chartered Accountant
• Required strong Communication and inter-personal skills
