Systems Engineer SR (SFG Engineer SR)  

Overview:  

We are seeking an experienced Senior Sterling File Gateway (SFG) Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of hands-on experience in SFG architecture design, installation, upgrades, and administration. Additionally, candidates should have experience migrating from on-premise or hosted environments to cloud-based infrastructure. This role requires a deep understanding of file transfer protocols, security protocols, and encryption technologies, combined with a strong focus on compliance and security. 

Your day-to-day at Sagent:

  • Architect, design, install, upgrade, and administer Sterling File Gateway (SFG) environments. 
  • Manage the migration of SFG systems from on-premise or hosted environments to the cloud, ensuring a smooth and secure transition. 
  • Administer and maintain SSP/SEAS, Cipher, WAF, and MFA solutions. 
  • Ensure secure and efficient file transfer processes using FTP, SFTP, HTTP, HTTPS, and other protocols. 
  • Maintain system security, compliance, and encryption standards across all SFG operations. 
  • Perform system upgrades, patching, and routine maintenance to keep environments up-to-date and secure. 
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to SFG and its supporting infrastructure. 
  • Collaborate with the network and security teams to ensure proper configurations of firewalls and security layers. 
  • Provide documentation for all processes, including design documentation, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides. 
  • Stay informed about the latest developments in file transfer technologies and security protocols. 
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, security standards, and industry regulations. 

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or relevant discipline with 4 - 6 years of experience in a related field. Experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Strong theoretical knowledge base and functional expertise typically acquired through formal education and experience.
  • Ability to provide guidance to others as a project manager or lead using technical expertise.
  • Experience ensuring that computer systems match overall business goals, structures, and processes.
  • Proficiency in specifying, building, and maintaining technical infrastructure to support organizational objectives.
  • Knowledge of system support and maintenance processes, including integration with internal and external systems.
  • Skill in gathering requirements from stakeholders and considering factors such as reliability, longevity, maintainability, and risk management.
  • Ability to identify organizational problems and devise reliable and efficient solutions. 

Additional Skills/Technical Knowledge Preferred:  

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in SFG architecture, design, installation, and administration. 
  • Proven experience with SSP/SEAS, Cipher, WAF, and MFA upgrades and administration. 
  • In-depth knowledge of Sterling File Gateway (SFG) and related file transfer protocols (FTP, SFTP, HTTP, HTTPS).
  • Strong experience with Linux/Unix/Windows systems. 
  • Proficiency in security protocols and encryption technologies, including SSL/TLS. 
  • Familiarity with network configurations, including firewalls, load balancers, and proxies. 
  • Hands-on experience with cloud migration of SFG environments 9from on-premise or hosted solutions).
  • Certification in relevant technologies or cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Experience with automated deployment tools and CI/CD pipelines.
