Red Hat Ansible engineering is seeking an exceptional Distinguished Engineer to join our team. We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successfully leading team execution to deliver Enterprise-grade products, driving modern architectures that are componentized and cloud-based, and leveraging open source principles and ecosystems. What you will do

  • Represent Ansible as a technical leader in strategic upstream communities

  • Engage in cross-portfolio technical strategy with Red Hat and IBM peers

  • Support, advise, and mentor senior technical leaders (architects and staff engineers) within the Ansible engineering team

  • Partner with Ansible Engineering and Business Unit leadership to drive product and organizational priorities

  • Act as a thought leader across Ansible’s technologies and solutions, steering collaboration on architecture and dependencies with other teams while demonstrating an understanding of the consequences of technology choices

  • Have a strong understanding of the business and customers to help shape broad product direction with other product teams

  • Connect product roadmap to the overall company strategy to help anchor contributors to the company mission

  • Contribute to the architecture and design of Ansible Automation Platform

  • Evaluate the benefits and risks of technical solutions to customer needs and communicate those evaluations to stakeholders 

  • Support customer success through communicating the product portfolio, longer term technical vision, customer enablement and briefing sessions, and customer/field feedback sessions.  

  • Create technical and architectural documentation to explain and share design decisions and policies

  • Work with open source communities to evaluate new AI technologies and create examples of integrations between their technology and Ansible

  • Present externally at related technology conferences and internally within communities of practice

What you will bring

  • Significant experience working with upstream communities 

  • Strong software architecture background

  • Passion for quickly learning and using new tools and technologies

  • An agile, flexible, and collaborative mindset

  • Experience with cross-portfolio and / or cross-company collaborative technical design

  • Familiarity with Kubernetes architecture and containers

  • Experience designing for distributed systems

  • Experience with development for public cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure)

  • Ability to work as a self-directed technical leader for the organization

  • Experience in growing the next level of technical leadership through coaching and mentoring

The salary range for this position is $192,400.00 - $327,110.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Pay Transparency

Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
