Join us in making world class warehouse automation accessible to more businesses.
Created by AutoStore, Pio brings advanced cube storage technology to small and mid-sized companies, helping them handle more orders, use space smarter, and compete at a whole new level. As we continue to scale, we are looking for a Backend Engineer to join our team and build the systems that connect software, robotics, and real-world warehouse operations.
At Pio, you will work in a tight knit team where your voice matters and your code ships fast. You will have the freedom to explore, experiment, and make a real impact while building fast, reliable, and scalable systems powering warehouses across the globe, from Oslo to Paris, Tokyo to Los Angeles.
At the same time, Pio is a playground for what comes next. As part of the AutoStore ecosystem, you will help explore and shape the future of automation, including robotic arms, residential storage, vertical farming, and new retail experiences.
About the role
At Pio, you will design and build APIs and backend systems that connect software and robotics, ensuring what we build is reliable and ready to scale.
You will be part of a team where ideas move quickly from discussion to production, and where engineers are trusted to take ownership. We value focus and quality, but also enjoy celebrating progress together.
What you’ll be working on
Build and improve backend systems and APIs in the Pio platform
Design reliable, scalable solutions that connect software, robotics, and external systems
Contribute to new features, system performance enhancements, monitoring, insights, and reporting
Write high-quality, well-tested code and deploy frequently
Work closely with product and engineering to solve real customer needs
Help shape architecture, engineering practices, and how we work as a team
You’ll thrive here if you
Enjoy building backend systems that are reliable, practical, and easy to evolve
Are comfortable making technical tradeoffs and taking ownership of solutions
Like working in a collaborative team where people support each other, share knowledge, and enjoy building together
Want to have a real impact on both the product and the way things are built
Are motivated by solving real-world problems, not just abstract systems
What you bring
Background in backend development
Experience in Python, or another modern language, and an eagerness to work primarily in Python
Experience building web applications, systems, and APIs
Good understanding of relational databases such as PostgreSQL
Experience working with production systems and contributing to technical decisions
Nice to have
Experience with FastAPI
Experience with Kubernetes and cloud environments
Experience working with integrations or complex systems
Our tech stack: FastAPI, Pydantic, PyTest, Redis, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, Azure DevOps, and Terraform
What you’ll get at Pio
A key role in a high-caliber team where your work has real impact
The opportunity to help make advanced cube storage technology accessible to more businesses
A high level of ownership, with real influence over decisions and direction
A team environment with time to focus, and a social and supportive group that enjoys working together
A collaborative environment with skilled colleagues and a strong engineering culture
Meaningful technical challenges that connect software with real-world systems
The backing of AutoStore, combined with the flexibility and speed of a smaller team
Location for this role is in Stavanger. Please apply before the 21st of June.
You don’t need to match every single point to be a great fit. If this role sounds interesting and you’re motivated to grow, we’d love to hear from you.
