About The Role

The System Software team at HP IQ is building foundational components that power the next generation of intelligent, device-native experiences. We're looking for a Windows Systems Engineer to help develop our low-level audio stack, from microphone input to complex signal processing algorithms.

You will work closely with cross-functional partners in CoreOS, firmware, and AI to enable seamless, high-performance audio pipelines that are deeply integrated with our hardware and services stack. This is a hands-on role with broad scope and opportunity to grow technical depth and product impact.

What You Might Do

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of core components of the audio pipeline on Windows, including microphone and speaker I/O, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi integration, and audio routing logic.
  • Build low-latency, thread-safe audio services that integrate with Windows system APIs and underlying device hardware.
  • Work across teams to support intelligent sensing experiences that depend on real-time audio inputs.
  • Partner with product and platform teams to ship robust, user-facing functionality.
  • Profile, debug, and optimize complex system behavior with performance as a top priority.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience developing system-level Windows software.
  • Proficiency in C, C#, or Rust.
  • Experience with Windows Core Audio APIs (e.g., MMDevice, WASAPI).
  • Understanding of multithreaded programming and latency-sensitive system services.
  • Familiarity with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or other device integration on Windows.
  • Experience shipping features or products to end users.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience building DSP or real-time audio systems.
  • Knowledge of Windows Runtime, device power management, or event-driven APIs.
  • Familiarity with performance profiling tools for Windows system services.

Salary range: $149,900 - $250,000
