Special Events Intern

Pay Details:

The starting hourly rate for this position is $20.00 per hour.

OCVIBE Special Events seeks a bold, innovative, and creative Intern to help shape our division and share our message of creating first-class events with the world. Our success is built on the foundation of creating one-of-a-kind special events for our clients at our current Honda Center and ARTIC facilities and our future OCVIBE properties – from weddings to festivals, corporate parties to graduations, film shoots, and private concerts, we provide our clients with elevated turnkeys spaces and planning that takes their events to the next level. As an intern in this newly created division, our Intern will have the opportunity to spearhead industry projects, create insightful competitor analyses, and get hands-on training in sales and logistical execution of events.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize and help to develop improvements to the client database for OCVIBE Special Events

  • Research and analyze competitor pricing and offerings to help shape our portfolio of event options

  • Assist in the creation and continual improvement of Standard Operating Protocols for Special Events

  • Assist Sales Managers in creation of event detail documents for event management system integrations

  • Work with Food & Beverage teams to continually update menus and pricing based on market availability and client needs

  • Attend department and inter-department meetings related to current Special Events and plans for OCVIBE development

  • Work with Marketing, Creative Services, Social Media, and PR teams to create new campaigns for events

  • Communicate upcoming event needs and schedules to internal departments by email

  • Answer, screen, and route incoming event inquiries and questions and take messages as needed

  • Prepare memos, correspondence, reports, and other documents

  • Network with the Southern California Tourism, Hospitality, Sports, and Entertainment worlds

  • Assist Special Events Director and Managers with plans, details, and arrangements for events

  • Shadow Event Managers and various operations departments during Special Events scheduled throughout the venue

Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

  • Physically able to lift and move items up to 30 lbs. as needed

Qualifications

  • Candidates must have completed their first year of college and must currently be a student in good standing with at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average out of a 4.0 scale

  • Minimum availability of 15 hours/week, M-F between 8:30am and 6pm

  • Education or Major in Events, Hospitality, Entertainment, Marketing or Branding Preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Education - High School Diploma or Equivalent

Experience Required - 0-1 Year
