EHS Risk Assurance & Compliance Specialist

We wish to recruit a highly motivated and dynamic Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Risk Assurance and Compliance specialist. As a key member of the EHS team, reporting to the Manager of EHS, you will be responsible for identifying and manging the EHS risk and assurance programmes as well as a specific focus on environmental compliance.

About the Role

  • EHS Risk and assurance: Establishing and executing EHS risk control and assurance program, reporting on the findings and driving the compliance against the agreed remediation steps.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of operational EHS risk events and breaches, and overall responsibility for the coordination and management of the EHS risk register.  
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with Group EHS procedures and other requirements (including compliance with the Group’s policies). Drive standardisation, improvement, and controls.
  • Responsible for the reporting of key environmental metrics to our parent company and for CSRD compliance, ensuring the collation and analysis of environmental performance data, production of reports, and identify areas for improvement including supporting our sustainability goals and action plans.
  • Support and work closely with key stakeholders in developing, reviewing, and achieving environmental and sustainability objectives and targets, promoting continuous improvement and development throughout.
  • Where appropriate, take an active role in ensuring that environmental incidents are investigated, and suitable lessons learnt/actions are captured and communicated appropriately to prevent any reoccurrences. Liaise with any insurance/legal third parties as necessary.
  • Act as key point of contact with ownership for coordination across the business for EHS 2LoD and 3LoD Group HSE Control Functions (Risk, Compliance, and Internal Audit)
  • Maintain and drive improvement opportunities in the EHS management system and ensure our EHS Management programme accurately reflects business strategy. 
  • Track H&SE Improvement Action Plans and take ownership of reporting on effectiveness of action closure. 
  • Keep up to date with all relevant environmental legislation including guidance and industry best practice, ensure such knowledge is shared and embedded within the business, and ensure the company is compliant with safety and environmental legislation.
  • Liaise with relevant external bodies including regulatory bodies .Lead the identification and maintenance of the H&SE Risk Register across site.
  • Track H&SE Improvement Action Plans.

About You

  • Proven EHS experience with a minimum of 5 years’ experience
  • Previous experience working within Quality, Environmental and H&S Management systems.
  • A professional qualification in risk, compliance, auditing (In particular, ISO 9001, 45001, and 14001)
  • Strong knowledge of internal control frameworks
  • Highly motivated with an ability to work on own initiative within a fast paced and dynamic work environment.
  • Demonstrated presentation skills, attention to detail and practical approach
  • Previous experience of completing internal and external audits
  • Experience of implementation of documentation and procedures
