JOB DESCRIPTION:

SSUMMARY OF POSITION

Serves as the lead behavior specialist for the Regional Intervention Program (RIP), a parent-implemented, professionally-supported program for young children and their families who are experiencing challenging behaviors. This role will work with families with children ages 2 through 6 who are experiencing challenging behaviors. Program days and hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 A.M. to 6 P.M.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support program operation: support appropriate scheduling of program activities for families; empower enrolled families to utilize their learned skills for optimal program operation; conduct treatment conferences, collect, record, and analyze data from parent and child observations; maintain rater reliability for model fidelity; provide coaching and support to families implementing learned skills; review intake and program paperwork with families; trouble-shoot problems that arise during program; assist in covering tasks of absent staff as needed (e.g. parent educator, classroom coordinator, etc.)
  • Maintain case responsibility for assigned families: facilitate enrollment process from intake through discharge; prepare and monitor data on child behavior, write classroom behavior programs, track family’s progress in treatment and enter data for family and program reporting purposes; write or review treatment plans/Family Objectives plans and reports; participate in debriefing and case staffing meetings to prepare for family and program needs; document treatment progress and plans; provide consultation to childcare or school when requested; refer for additional services when indicated; provide liaison services to graduated families upon request
  • Participate in meetings and trainings: actively participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings; complete Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (TDMHSAS) trainings; attend regularly scheduled in-service trainings and community presentations at RIP; participate in goal-orientated action group(s)
  • Miscellaneous administrative duties, as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Effectively communicate via written, verbal, in person and virtual methods.
  • Knowledge and experience in working with young behavior disordered children and their families.

QUALIFICATIONS

         

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in one of the following fields (Early Childhood) Education, Social Work, Psychology, or other mental health related field is required.
  • Four years of relevant experience may be substituted for education.
  • Graduates of the RIP program preferred.

Substitution of Experience for High School Education: Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school, successful completion of a Regional Intervention Program recognized by the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, and two years of work experience in mental health, child development, social work, or other related acceptable field.

Experience working with young children and their families is preferred.
