The Sr. Legal Account Manager is responsible for external law firm and litigation vendor engagement, rate management, panel management and stewardship. The Sr. Legal Account Manager will develop and maintain relationships with law firms and business partners through participation in contracting, onboarding, and stewardship meetings. The ideal candidate must demonstrate effective communication & presentation skills and the ability to analyze metrics and identify trends to support productive legal vendor partnerships.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead stewardship meetings with vendors and Markel stakeholders, addressing performance, expectations, and opportunities
  • Manage the onboarding, contracting, and renewal process for legal vendors
  • Using data analytics identify trends and opportunities to drive law firm utilization, strategy and expense mitigation   
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external law firms and business partners to achieve optimal litigation outcomes.  
  • Owns legal vendor rate negotiations and panel rates review process
  • Participate in the preparation of legal vendor performance updates for key partners, senior leaders, and associates. 
  • Maintain legal vendor database. 
  • Assist with review of attorney/firm billing history and spend
  • Collaborate with claims leaders to support legal vendor needs

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree, paralegal certification, or equivalent work experience

Certification

  • Claims designations and/or certifications, paralegal certificate(s), a plus 

Work Experience

  • 5 - 7 years of claims account management, general commercial account management experience, and/or senior level claims, insurance, or paralegal law firm experience
  • Claims litigation experience
  • Strong presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex information to both vendors and senior level stakeholders
  • Proven ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and diligence

Skill Set

  • Effective interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skill set that includes a collaborative approach
  • Familiarity with Adobe document review and redactions
  • Experience managing vendor onboarding, stewardship, and performance management
  • Proven ability to resolve issues with multiple stakeholders and maintain continuity of effective relationship management
  • Thinks innovatively about customer service and providing efficient solutions

Pay information:

The base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors. The national average salary for the Sr. Account Manager, Claims Vendor Management is $72,100 - $101,530 with 25% bonus potential.
