Cellzome, a fully embedded part of GSK’s R&D Research Technology department, is located on the campus of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg, a diverse, international and stimulating environment that fosters excellent science in a highly collaborative environment. The ca. 80 scientists at Cellzome are focused applying advanced omics platforms to unravel the molecular mechanisms of disease, targets and drug action.

Business Operations Manager (m/f/d)

The Business Operations Manager (m/f/d) will establish and monitor business processes at Cellzome to ensure that risks related to all aspects of operations are identified, mitigated and escalated and compliance rules are met. In addition, the role entails all aspects of Cellzome’s business processes within the GSK network and reports to the Managing Director of Cellzome GmbH.

The successful candidate works closely with other functions, including Finance, Procurement, Real Estate, Scientific Operations, Employee Health and Safety, Human Resource, Legal and Compliance.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Enabling Risk Management processes through proactive risk identification & communication as well as coordination of risk mitigation implementation activities.
  • Ensures that proper internal controls are in place and in use by independently assessing the risk management framework and supports the business in the development and implementation of the management monitoring and plan to ensure controls operate effectively and gaps identified are appropriately remediated through corrective and preventative actions.
  • Keep up to date with, and understand, relevant laws and regulations and monitor compliance with those as well as internal policies.
  • Use core skills and capabilities (project management, influence, critical thinking, root cause analysis) to support the organization in all aspects of business operations
  • Partners with business leaders across relevant departments in GSK to proactively identify, evaluate and improve business processes
  • Performs various general operational duties (such as organizing and presentations of leadership and site wide meetings, communication to staff and stakeholders)
  • Independently manages a high volume workload proactively to a consistently high standard, by setting priorities, objectives and target dates.
  • Works diligently and commands different GSK systems relevant for business processes

Qualifications & Requirements:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Degree in science, management and business administration or law
  • Proven experience in risk management and compliance processes
  • Business communication in English and German (at least C1 level)
  • Ability to utilize MS Office Suite, including Office 365, TEAMS, OneNote, and MS Project or Smartsheet equivalent, to track and report project progress required.
  • Experience with management of communication tools, document management systems and enterprise solutions (e.g. SharePoint, TEAMS site administration)
