Job Summary
• The main role of the AIM Data Collection Specialist is to assume responsibility for duties associated with the timely collection, verification and submission of aeronautical information/data (AI/D) into the NAV CANADA Aeronautical Data Management System (ADMS), and the verification of AI/D in support of the efficient and effective provision of aeronautical information services. Other responsibilities include involvement in team initiatives as well as the provision of technical advice relevant to AIS collection/verification issues.

Job Description
Key Accountabilities:
- Collects, assesses, verifies and stores aeronautical information/data (AI/D) used in the provision of aeronautical information services using all available applicable means and provides first-level help desk support of ADMS data entry issues to all internal and external data originators.
- Verifies data requirements to meet accuracy, resolution and integrity requirements.
- Provides technical customer service advice on AI/D to all internal and external clients.
- Through contact with accountable sources, and data originators, collects and enters required AI/D in ADMS.
- Involved in key team initiatives for constant improvement of the AIS processes and in the initial and recurrent training.
- Initiating and/or contributing to BMS reports.
- Providing subject matter expertise in AIS initiatives.
- Participate in and provide feedback concerning educational materials for people and projects in the AIS Community
- Work collaboratively with other units in AIM
Job Requirements
Education:
- Successful completion of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience
- A post-secondary technology certificate or diploma in one of the following fields would be considered an asset: Geographic Information Systems, Computers, or Aviation
Experience:
- Experience working within the aviation industry
- Experience in the process of collecting and verifying data according to required specifications/metrics from multiple sources (internal and external), preferably in the AIM environment.
- Experience in using Microsoft Office Suite, calculators and aeronautical database applications.
- Experience in leading or participating in projects.
- Experience in the area of production and/or data management.
- Experience in customer service and/or relations.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of the techniques, methods and practices used in the collection/verification of aeronautical information and in support of the efficient provision of AIS
- Knowledge of the Canadian Air Navigation System.
- Knowledge of navigational aids and aviation terminology.
- Knowledge of Aeronautical Information Services.
- Knowledge of aeronautical information products
Abilities:
- Ability to communicate complex technical information both verbally and in writing to both internal and external clients
- Customer Service skills.
- The ability to maintain attention to detail over prolonged periods.
- The technological skill to use COTS software applications.
- Office skills including, keyboarding and an operational knowledge of the MS Office suite of applications.
Personal Suitability:
- Organization and time management skills.
- Problem solving skills.
- Collaboration and conflict resolution skills required when dealing with both internal and external clients and stakeholders
- The interpersonal skill required to create and work in a cooperative productive work environment.
Working conditions:
- This position is based at the Ottawa ANS but may be eligible for a flexible work arrangement.
