The Director, Data Governance, Enterprise Data and Analytics will design, and rollout governed, certified, and trusted metrics and definitions in support of implementing these rules within business applications, business processes, and a new, global, data and analytics solution, “Edna”.
This position sits within the “Expand” (Extreme Process Analytics and Data Governance) team, within the Analytics & Data Governance pillar, and is responsible for developing the data governance function within Extreme, both in defining the approach and definitions, as well as building the relevant team to deliver on outcomes. 
This position will partner with both stakeholders throughout the business to understand and define data rules and business logic, and peers within the Expand team to implement these definitions within both the business applications and the new “Edna” data platform and dashboards.
This position is remote, reporting to the Senior Director of Analytics & Data Governance.
 
Specific Duties:
Domain Experience
·        Define cross-functional definitions of business-critical data and metrics, aligning key stakeholders across the business with global, shared, and local definitions and applying variation where appropriate for subsets of key terms.
 
·        Champion change that is beneficial to the business for increased efficiency, understanding, and insights.
 
·        Establish master data principles for a single version of truth and consistent definitions for master data entities (e.g. customer, product, employee).
 
·        Support definition of data metrics, terms, cross-functional attributes, and “master data entities” including, but not limited to, the following examples:
 
·        Metrics & Terms.: Open Funnel, Renewal Rates, Win/Booking
 
·        Attributes: Customer Active/Inactive categorization, Health State, Risk indicators
 
·        Master data entities: Customer taxonomy, Product hierarchy, Employee
 
·        Own and maintain enterprise-wide data governance collateral (including a business glossary, report guides, and dictionaries) leveraged in analytics and business processes and for varying audiences (senior leadership and detailed data users).
 
·        Construct data governance operating models with domain representation for key subject areas and an interaction model to create enterprise-wide awareness and alignment.
 
Leadership Planning
·        Align the data governance roadmap and activities to the process and analytics initiatives to ensure a cohesive release in delivering new processes or analytics in partnership with clear, concise, and aligned definitions.
 
·        Assist in roadmap and planning activities to size and scope the level of effort for activities.
 
·        Collaborate with department leaders, program leads, and senior leadership for planning and execution, communicating timelines, outcomes, and budgets, and identifying risk and opportunities.
 
·        Establish release cadence using agile principles with definition of MVP and iterative, outcome-oriented, releases.
·        Manage the team’s backlog of delivery within the pillar of focus, driving prioritization, planning, and team-wide alignment on interdependencies.
 
People and Team Management
·        Resolve data-related issues, such as discrepancies in data quality, and ensure data is a reliable asset across the organization.
 
·        Lead others and work independently in the design and development of all aspects of the delivered solutions, providing directional and technical guidance to team members to advance prioritized outcomes collectively.
 
·        Manage, mentor, and evaluate staff performance, including setting goals and objectives, conducting performance evaluations, and providing staff with guidance on technical/project-related issues.
 
·        Run agile meetings for planning, refinement, and readouts specific to the pillar of focus.
·        Identify team needs for hiring, advancement, and learning opportunities, supporting the team's growth and development.
 
Qualifications:
·        Highly self-motivated and able to work independently and in a team environment.
 
·        10+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or related roles.
 
·        Experience implementing and managing data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA framework, DMBOK).
 
·        Proven leadership experience, ideally as a senior leader within an analytics or data management function.
 
·        Experience working with cross-functional teams to implement data policies and standards.
 
·        Deep understanding of best data governance practices, including data stewardship, data quality, metadata management, and data lifecycle management.
 
·        Experience with data management tools (e.g., Purview, Collibra, Alation) for governance and metadata management.
 
·        Proven experience in change management, leading organizations through data governance transformations.
 
·        Can be highly flexible in adapting to the team and organization's needs.
 
·        Familiarity with enterprise data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, AWS, Azure) & high-level understanding of typical data architecture, data warehousing, and data integration techniques.
 
·        Comfort working within an agile team, leveraging DevOps concepts and agile-enablement tools including Jira, Confluence, and Github.
 
·        Ability to clearly communicate complex ideas to both technical and business stakeholders, with demonstrated written and verbal presentation skills to present compelling recommendations
 
·        Knowledge of SQL to work with data teams when necessary is a plus.
