Manage Collection, Asset Recovery and Credit personnel while maximizing task efficiency for expedient and maximum revenue recovery.   

Primary responsibilities

  • Review past due revenue reports; Daily BTC Summary Report of accounts reflecting past due revenue,  Moody’s monthly revenue report, Ansonia monthly revenue report, and others that may become available.
  • Consult with Managers and Supervisors concerning troubled accounts identifying the issues causing payment delays.  Then collectively construct a plan correcting issues to effect adherence to credit terms.
  • Work closely with Management to resolve performance or disciplinary issues involving Managers, Supervisors, Account Revenue Research Specialists (AARS), Team Leads, Asset Recovery and Credit staff.
  • Review monthly AARS performance metrics with Collection Managers and Supervisors.
  • Report weekly to executive management regarding high revenue accounts at risk of stopping service due to nonpayment.
  • Select collection agencies, negotiations fee structure and develop required interfaces
  • Manage Asset Recovery staff who communicate with collection agencies and collection attorneys to effect maximum recovery. 
  • Provide paralegal case management services to include sharing applicable case law to collection attorney to justify and strengthen our position prior to and at trial.
  • Direct legal research through subordinate Asset Recovery staff.
  • Utilize Asset Recovery staff to ensure ODFL representatives are prepared to appear in court on behalf of ODFL.
  • Oversee the management of bankruptcy filings and coordinate defense against preferential payment recoveries.
  • Work with IT to develop and maintain computer applications for placements, rollovers, collection and placement of closures.
  • Directly manage Credit staff including hiring, wage changes and disciplinary action.
  • Ensure credit approvals and declination decision are being performed based upon credit policies and procedures. 

Job Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education.  Paralegal Degree preferred. 

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in an attorney’s office or paralegal experience while working at a motor carrier
  • Minimum 5 years commercial credit experience
  • Minimum 5 years collection experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Strong interpersonal skills
