Here’s a Glimpse of the Job

Texas A&M’s Oceanography Department is looking for a Research Assistant who will be responsible for analyzing and preparing machine learning training data and conducting machine learning model training under supervision. The Research Assistant will write reports and assist in the preparation of documents and may contribute to research papers, articles, and publications. The Research Assistant will also assist in the maintenance of data servers and workstations.

Opportunities to Contribute

  • Prepare, curate, analyze, and summarize research data to support machine learning model training, evaluation, and interpretation of results.

  • Train and evaluate machine learning models and contribute findings to written research reports and technical documentation.

  • Prepare research reports, technical progress updates, and presentation materials for delivery to both small and large audiences.

  • Maintain and update research code repositories in the lab’s GitHub environment, manage the team website, and support research data servers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science.

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time while working on the computer.

A well-qualified candidate for this position will also possess:

  • Master’s degrees in Computer Science.

  • Experience with Deep learning and Earth remote sensing.

  • Physical oceanography.

  • Excellent verbal and written skills.

  • Presentation skills.

  • Analytical skills.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Knowledge of computers and computer software related to the position.

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate's education and experience.
