The Risk Department is a fast paced, action-oriented group, which handles numerous complex matters impacting Neuberger Berman group and businesses. We are seeking an investment risk VP to work as part of the Fixed Income risk team handling the matters below, as well as some functions to support the overall investment risk team.

The role will primarily be responsible for the measurement and management of investment risk within our fixed income franchise, inclusive of illiquid strategies. The role requires proven working knowledge across global fixed income and a demonstrable knowledge of regulatory requirements around investment and overall risk governance US Funds such as liquidity and derivatives rules. The role will have a reporting line to the Director of Fixed Income Risk.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • You  will be responsible for various aspects of the on-going portfolio active risk monitoring and analysis of a set of strategies offered in our Fixed Income franchise.  This will include primarily oversight of Investment risk (portfolio risk profile, analysis of returns, market and liquidity risks) and collaborating closely with portfolio managers and others members of the investment risk team

  • Preparing autonomously and presenting risk reporting for relevant strategies with Portfolio managers and where applicable reports for Boards and Internal Committees as part of the Investment Risk Governance.  You are expected to clearly articulate any findings and identify any escalation topics as part of the presentation and engagement with the investment professionals. This will involve collecting relevant data within risk systems and information, organizing the information in a constructive way as well as building new Key risk Indicators

  • Creating, maintaining and developing positive working relationships with all stakeholders, internal and external, to support the achievement of key outcomes

  • Working daily with data you are expected to perform accurately to ensure the highest quality of the analysis provided

  • Participating in ad-hoc projects in relation to the overall expertise of the investment risk group including engagements with portfolio managers

Key Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5  years’ experience in asset management with exposure to financials markets

  • Educated to a BSC or Master Degree Level in Finance or Maths/Science

  • Expertise in advanced risk and attribution modeling techniques is required. Previous use and thorough working knowledge of the industry’s standard performance attribution and risk models such as BlackRock Aladdin is expected

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills as well as writing & presentation skills.

  • Basic knowledge of US regulations and understanding of requirements in respect of Risk Management

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) a must and advanced coding ideally Phyton and/or SQL.

  • Interest in seeking the FRM certification

Compensation Details

The salary range for this role is $120,000-$170,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in New York City. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for a discretionary bonus.
