Senior Specialist, Performance Groups


 

What you will be doing:

The Senior Specialist assists the Performance Groups in developing a project plan and/or analytics for assigned product categories, from member need identification to contract execution, which includes spend analysis, financial modeling, direct negotiations, internal and external terms and conditions collaboration, presentation creation for Performance Group Committees, and sourcing management within Premier’s sourcing technology platform.  Financial modeling includes supplier spend analyses, tier impact analyses and financial analyses for assigned product categories.  The Senior Specialist provides inputs into the sourcing process and strategy, and executes the process on multiple medium to high complexity categories.  The Senior Specialist is a top tier contracting support position in the Performance Group organization of Premier, where the individual is provided a support system to grow in the role on an individual and team basis, but also functions in a leadership capacity for the team via performance improvement, capacity planning, and team work management. This position participates and contributes to performance improvement initiatives and special projects, is focused on leadership and development, and is exposed to various experiential activities that will broaden the individual’s experience and perspective. 

Key Responsibilities

Responsibility #1

CORE

•           Sources medium to high complexity product categories

•           Masters complete sourcing cycle

•           Manages and masters complex/strategic categories and contract analytics

•           Ability to negotiate custom complex terms as directed

•           Develops supplier spend analysis, price tier analysis, and recommends tiers for assigned product categories custom to each core member

•           Assists or leads the creation of RFPs

•           Communicates with suppliers

•           Completes pricing / savings negotiations

•           Creates PowerPoint presentations that provide succinct and informational messages

•           Validates the completeness of suppliers product and pricing files

•           Assists in the development of award recommendations

•           Assists in the creation of the final contract

Responsibility #2

Analytics

•           Design and provide day to day management of  analytic projects with assigned members 

•           Assist with education, utilization and standardization studies through the use of various data sets (clinical and financial)

•           Analyze market trends, product usage, and spend history

•           Develop and deliver communication of analytic insights

•           Assist with integration of analytic insight into business processes and outcomes measurement

•           Partner and align with sourcing, contract management, data management, and specific field force personnel to understand member-specific pricing and contract elements

•           Lead analysis of and model projects involving data related to the healthcare supply spend of specific Premier members

•           Perform financial analysis ensuring accuracy via various methodologies (financial, statistical, formatting, common sense checks)

•           Identify potential business performance improvements and either savings and/or contracting opportunities based on analytical data review and analysis

•           Adheres to the milestones and cycle times outlined in product category workplan

•           Monitors progress of assigned tasks in product category workplan

•           Identifies and informs management of deviations from product category workplan and timeline

•           Identifies and communicates resource needs on a timely basis to the appropriate level

•           Ensures accuracy and completeness of own work

•           Participates in sourcing meetings to ensure a seamless integration throughout the sourcing process

•           Leads performance improvement projects

•           Leads performance, quality, and capacity initiatives

•           Ownership of a project or program within Performance Groups

•           Certified Professional in Supply Management or other area of interest

•           Actively seeks opportunities to become familiar with the sourcing strategy, to increase knowledge of sourcing terminology and depth of product knowledge

•           Demonstrates integrity, innovation, accountability and ownership in work

•           Exposed to multiple Sourcing Service Lines and gains experience in sourcing multiple product categories

•           Strategic supplier work

•           Experience and exposure to various Supply Chain Services teams and business units


​Required Qualifications

Work Experience:

Years of Applicable Experience - 4 or more years

Education:

High School Diploma or GED (Required)



 

Preferred Qualifications

Skills:

  • Microsoft Office Suite

  • Financial Analytics and Modeling

  • Process Improvement

Experience:

  • Coursework in purchasing or supply chain, healthcare, logistics, materials management, finance, operations, project management, technology, business intelligence tools, leadership training

  • Active participation in professional memberships such as AHRMM, ACHE, ISM

  • Volunteer work in activities that advance the supply chain profession

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree

Working Conditions: Air conditioned office space


 

Travel Requirements: Travel 1-20% within the US


 

Physical Demands: Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves remaining stationary most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if movement is required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.


 

Premier’s compensation philosophy is to ensure that compensation is reasonable, equitable, and competitive in order to attract and retain talented and highly skilled employees. Premier’s internal salary range for this role is $64,000 - $118,000. Final salary is dependent upon several market factors including, but not limited to, departmental budgets, internal equity, education, unique skills/experience, and geographic location. Premier utilizes a wide-range salary structure to allow base salary flexibility within our ranges.
