This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

As part of a hardworking team of engineers, specialists, and technicians, you will lead systems engineering efforts for the development of new capabilities for the New Glenn Upper Stage.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Technical system engineering lead for the development of new capabilities for the New Glenn Upper Stage.
  • Work across all upper stage subsystems and support integrated solutions to develop new capabilities.
  • Lead the development, allocation, and verification of requirements for these solutions.
  • Negotiate interfaces and coordinate between internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the alignment and consistent implementation of New Glenn system engineering practices within New Glenn’s Upper Stage.
  • Develop health metrics to support insight into program health and tracking to major milestones.
  • Lead gated reviews and support New Glenn program and element level gated reviews.
  • Additionally, this role requires understanding and supporting requirements analysis and traceability, functional analysis, systems analysis, safety analysis, technical performance monitoring, developing strategies and approaches for specialty engineering (operability, reliability, maintainability, supportability) and system product life cycle processes.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace engineering or other technical field.
  • Highly knowledgeable of systems engineering practices, integration processes, and mission/safety critical systems.
  • Ability to operate, make decisions, lead, and make forward progress in ambiguous environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and mentor junior systems engineers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; strength in teaming and collaboration in a diverse work environment, self-starter.
  • Experience with DOORS or other system requirement management software equivalent.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to our inclusive culture.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of proven experience in systems engineering on launch vehicles, spacecraft, or in other highly regulated industries.
  • Management or Technical Team Lead of a system engineering team or equivalent.
  • Experience working with government agencies.
  • Experience in reliability, maintainability and operability analysis and execution.
  • Experience with system safety.
  • Experience with testing.
  • Knowledgeable about system design and analysis and relationships to element design at the flight and ground levels.
  • Knowledge of the entire product life cycle including ground equipment and operations, manufacturing, and ISC considerations.


 

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $146,644.50-$205,302.30

Other site ranges may differ
