Position Summary...

What you'll do...

As a Senior Director I, Space Planning And Modular Development you will…

Direct category modular assortments and design layouts by validating the category purchase decision hierarchy tree; work with buyers to align modular development with overall category strategy; determine clusters of stores based on similar selling patterns; reviewing effectiveness of previous modular; create predominant modular assortment and design layouts for categories; oversee others in modifying predominant modular assortment and design layout based on individual store needs; and oversee the process and accuracy of modular execution.


Develop the strategy around modular cluster variations based on the modular layout template, assortment strategy, and merchandising rules by analyzing optimal item assortments; maintain modular layout design; recommend alternate solutions when design integrity is compromised; prepare reports for use in the modular walkthrough; and develop the modular cover letter detailing strategy and execution instructions.


Oversee validation team by overseeing audits of store merchandisable designs; ensure effective controls in design, scope, and prototype processes; maintain and update a central database of store merchandisable space, fixtures, equipment, signing, and design layouts; coordinate with other business areas regarding corrections to merchandise designs; and measure merchandise design accuracy and reporting it to executives.


Manage the identification of strategic opportunities for the design and development of category modulars for a portfolio and multiple categories by reviewing internal and external data sources; compile multiple data sources; identify product and shopper trends across categories; determine market gaps; work with merchandising and planning to understand the overall portfolio strategy; and collaborate with store planning to implement portfolio space strategy.


Oversee the development of merchandise plans for project stores by collaborating with internal business areas; reviewing, editing, and approving plans; evaluate available space to optimize departmental space as necessary; direct the production of plans for a variety of project formats and types; communicate design changes and requirements; ensure customer space, customer service, and store operational elements are allocated according to internal and external requirements; and evaluate new technology and resources to facilitate plan production.

  • Developing and implementing strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce by diagnosing capability gaps; recruiting, selecting, and developing talent; supporting mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning; and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent.

  • Cultivating an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics by integrating these values into all programs and practices; developing consequences for violations or non-compliance; and supporting the Open Door Policy.

The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00-$260,000.00

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Design, Marketing, Mathematics, or related field and 6 years’ experience in business, drafting, design, marketing, retail, replenishment, supplier sales, finance, or related area OR 8 years’ experience in retail, replenishment, supplier sales, finance, or related area. 2 years’ supervisory experience.
