This is a full-time onsite leadership position supporting the Corewell Health Grosse Pointe hospital.

Job Summary

Functions as the primary financial manager for the planning and analysis activities at the Grosse Pointe campus, while also providing financial analysis support to various regional clinical shared service lines.  Oversees the capital and operating planning functions, financial analysis and planning, and development and execution of business plans for current and future business ventures.

Essential Functions

  • Prepares variance analyses and investigates reasons for major variances, develops and presents potential solutions. Provides guidance on business issues including financial analysis, profitability analysis, and outside business ventures. Develops solutions to problems of unusual complexity, which require a high degree of ingenuity, creativity, and innovation. Reviews current operations and develops strategic plan for process improvements, increases in efficiency and expense reduction.
  • Works in collaboration with the finance team to develop the annual budget and quarterly financial forecasts.
  • Coordinates efforts of Financial Analysts and/or, financial systems support team and operational managers. Provides leadership to Senior Financial Analysts in order to develop accurate and timely analysis of departmental margins. Supports the efforts of the financial reporting team by engaging in review of monthly operational results. Consults with Operations Management and/or System Financial Reporting team and Treasury on accounting and finance related matters.
  • Prepare monthly close analysis for revenues and expenses for presentation at the Board level.
  • Manages Capital planning process and assists in coordinating capital planning meetings with departmental directors and/or the Hospital Administration Team. Ensures that capital requests are properly supported by pro forma and are accurately input into capital scoring system. Reviews financial pro forma and business plans for all capital expenditures, finance committee and board presentations for submission to the Director.
  • Monitors and works with clinical departments to achieve productivity benchmarking targets.
  • Provide support as a financial liaison to department managers and service line chairs. Prepare and present information for service line committees as required.
  • Develops plans to meet unexpected situations, new developments and changes in the business environment.
  • Manages the activities of professional and support employees. Provides direction and support to subordinate employees to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. Selects, trains, develops, and evaluates subordinates and initiates personnel actions in accordance with departmental policies and organization philosophy.
  • Leads coordination of projects which require Technology and Information Systems (TIS) support for implementation, upgrade and improvements. Manages the installation, customization, and maintenance of software necessary to support financial analysis and planning activities.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or other related field
  • 7 years of relevant experience managing various business and financial functions, including policy/procedure development and financial analysis
  • Managerial or supervisory experience

Preferred

  • Masters degree
  • Healthcare finance experience
