Field Specialist – Cementing Operations 

Delivering Cementing Service Excellence Through Safe Field Execution, Equipment Readiness, and Reliable Well Integrity Support

The Field Specialist role supports Cementing Operations by leading safe and efficient wellsite execution, operating and maintaining cementing equipment, coordinating crews and resources, and ensuring service quality for primary cementing, remedial cementing, plug and abandonment, squeeze cementing, and other well-integrity-related services. This role works closely with customers, supervisors, engineers, maintenance, logistics, and field crews to deliver reliable job performance and operational excellence. 

 

As the Field Specialist – Cementing Operations, you will have the following responsibilities: 

  • Operate, rig up, rig down, inspect, and support maintenance of cementing units, bulk equipment, mixing systems, pumps, high-pressure lines, manifolds, and related tools to ensure safe and reliable job execution. 

  • Coordinate field crews, equipment, cement, additives, bulk materials, and logistics to ensure job readiness, efficient mobilization, and timely execution in line with customer requirements and approved cementing programs. 

  • Supervise and support wellsite cementing operations, including primary cementing, remedial cementing, squeeze cementing, plug placement, and plug and abandonment activities, while maintaining operational discipline and service quality. 

  • Monitor cement slurry preparation, density, mixing quality, pumping rate, pressure, displacement volume, and equipment performance during operations, escalating abnormalities and supporting corrective actions as needed. 

  • Prepare, maintain, and review field documentation, including job tickets, cementing reports, equipment checklists, maintenance records, material usage, incident reports, and operational summaries required for service delivery. 

  • Ensure compliance with Baker Hughes HSE standards, customer site requirements, pressure control procedures, lifting practices, and safe work practices; participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments, and job safety analysis. 

  • Monitor inventory levels and support the procurement, distribution, tracking, and maintenance of cement, additives, bulk materials, spare parts, consumables, tools, and cementing equipment required for operations. 

  • Communicate job progress, operational concerns, equipment issues, safety observations, material requirements, and crew needs to supervisors, engineers, customers, and management to support timely decisions and continuous improvement. 

 

To be successful in this role, you will: 

 

  • Have a high school diploma, technical diploma, or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline, with relevant field experience in oil and gas operations preferred. 

  • Have experience in cementing operations, well construction, primary cementing, remedial cementing, squeeze cementing, plug and abandonment, or other well integrity-related field services. 

  • Demonstrate strong understanding of cementing equipment, bulk material handling, slurry mixing, high-pressure pumping systems, cement additives, wellsite operations, and service quality requirements. 

  • Be able to interpret cementing programs, pumping schedules, slurry properties, pressure trends, displacement volumes, wellsite parameters, and post-job results to support technical decisions and operational improvement. 

  • Show strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in fast-paced field environments, including remote land or offshore locations. 

  • Be committed to HSE, compliance, pressure control discipline, lifting safety, chemical handling, and safe execution of cementing activities. 

  • Work effectively with customers, field crews, supervisors, operations leaders, cementing engineers, and cross-functional teams to deliver reliable service performance. 

  • Have good communication skills in English, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical and operational information clearly at the wellsite and in reports.
